Welp, got all my info

tuesday prep at 5am and csection 715am even though I had a csection with my first this time it feels so different and I am very nervous/scared knowing I am going in to be cut open!! I talked to the hospital yesterday and I will be having a spinal this time--which makes me even more nervous!! Has anyone had a spinal and preferred it over the epidural? I guess, I just assumed I was having an epidural. This makes me even more nervous!! My Dh just says is there anything you can do about having a csection? Of course I say no and he says well no reason to worry! He will be in there with me!! Idk the closer it gets the more nervous I become

Call me crazy - loved the spinal! Told the doctor he should try it. Recovery has been amazing (second one due to gd). Going in rested, without having gone through trial of labor, makes the hours after much more pleasant! Still some pain and my experience is not everyone's, but there are some definite pluses. Good luck!!!

I have had two spinels and have had Zero issues. My recovery from both planned csections was easy. I was off pain meds in less than a week both times. Try to be positive. It can be a good experience. I talked to my husband and the doctors the entire time i was In surgery....made the time fly by. Good luck!

  • The spinal works faster and lasts for about 2 hours. Since it goes right into the space where the nerves are located you get a much lower dose of medication and it works more effectively. With Epidurals there is a chance of it being one sided or taking a long time to work. I had spinals with both my c sections and they were fantastic. I was frozen to my nipples by 4-5 minutes after the spinal dose was given. I was able to start moving my toes by 30 minutes after my c section was done. I felt no pain or pressure just some light touch sensation. Spinal is the way to go IMO.

  • On the recovery side of things it has been way easier this time! I went home on naproxen and only took it for 2 days once home. My body tells me when I have overdone it and my 2.5 year old is watching far too many cartoons this week but overall things are going better than I expected. I would recommend a belly bandit, I find it helps me get around and get things done with little to no discomfort. I am 9 days post c section.

  • I had a repeats c section Wednesday, have to admit I was terrified. Didn't remember much from the first because it all happened so quickly. I had the spinal and it was super easy.
  • Interested in the replies you get, also. But yes, would also suggest renaming the thread title to something relating to a spinal block so you'll get more hits. Also not trying to be snarky, truly just trying to help this thread gain more traction based on its subject matter. I almost didn't click this thread at all, based on its title, and once I did I was totally surprised that it was a spinal being discussed.

However, i wish you well with your c-section and your pain control! Also, I'm on schedule to be induced on Tuesday, so while you will see your LO way before I will, we may be delivery date twins
