Positive chlamydia result...WHY?!? HOW?!?

I've never had any std's and I know my husband and I are faithful to each other. A week ago I went to the hospital and they didn't tell me I had chlamydia, they said I just had BV and my doctor called me saying I have chlamydia. How is that possible can the results from my doctor be wrong? I'm really worried

Re: Positive chlamydia result...WHY?!? HOW?!?

  • Maybe the test was wrong ... How long have you been together ? Did you have any testing before you and him got together ? Is there the possibility he could of been unfaithful ? If you are positive for chlamydia then both of you need to be treated ASAP, because you'll just pass it back and forth. It's not good for your pregnancy.

  • Is a false positive possible? Yes.  Is it absolutely false? No..  Did you ask your doctor any questions or to have a retest?  THat would be my first step.

  • Yeah I just went to get retested because it's impossible for me to have this I'm with my husband 24/7.

  • I don't want to give you false hope but this did happen to me (except I was told I had gonorrhea) and it turned out to be a mistake. My husband and I both went and got tested the next day after I was told and both tests came back negative. Don't know if it was a false positive or something got mixed up in the lab or what.

PPs are still right. You need to talk to your husband about this and he needs to get tested. You also need proof of his test results (when our results came back we each called the office on speakerphone with the other right beside us, so I know he didn't lie about his result). It would not hurt to get retested yourself but do it right away because if the test result was right then you need to get treated ASAP.

  • So hold everything for a second though (and i will post this on your other thread too)

It seems, from a few quick google searches, that Chlamydia might be able to lie dormant in people for a number of years, without symptoms and undetected, meaning you or your partner could have come across it long ago, before you were together, and it was just dormant.

DISCLAIMER I'm not sure if this is how it actually works. You need to ask your dr about it. But that's what the internet seems to be implying.
  • Yea how do you know you absolutely didn't have it before?
  • I had a scare with syphilis when I was prego with DS. The first test came back nonconclusive, second was the same, they finally offered a different type of test that cameback negative.
