Planned C-Section Mommies?

I had a very difficult time having my 1st baby, and after 3 inductions and breaking my water, I had to have a C section.  This is my baby #2, and due to my risk level, we are planning a C Section.  Our date will be around Oct 7th.  Anyone else have a planned C Section?

I remember at the beginning I couldn't do much of anything, and I am a little more nervous now that I have a 2 year old.

Re: Planned C-Section Mommies?

  • I am having a planned c section for the 5th time. My first was the worse. With each child it was easier and easier to be up moving without much pain and discomfort sooner and sooner. With my last LO I actually left the hospital 2days after delivering via c section and my only issue was stairs for a few days. Not to bad. Hope this one is just as easy!

  • I am having a repeat c section and also have a 2 year old. I'm not to worried being I will have help from Hubby and mother in law but we do live on the third floor and I'm concerned with walking up the stairs to the apt!

  • I'm having a c section for the second time and I'm a bit nervous because I was sore for such a long time. Anyways 7yrs later I pray recovery will be much easier on me! :-h
  • I am having a c section and I am a FTM so very nervous. I have what's called a "vaginal septum" so basically I have two pathways that lead to my uterus (kind of like your nose..lol). I didn't know for the longest time because it's completely internal! Due to the type of septum I have, there could be a lot of potential risks with a vaginal delivery and my doctor suggested a c section. I am scheduling the date at our next appointment in 4 weeks!
  • We scheduled our c section at our initial visit and it's brought so much relief. Little miss will be here September 26th. I'm hoping to be up and out of the hospital in two days as they make me sick from the sanitizer smell. Keeping my fingers crossed all goes well.
  • Having a planned one after my first was emergency and second was planned. I can say that my planned one was worlds different than the unplanned. With my first I was induced whic turned dangerous when both our heart rates started to decrease causing emergency surgery. I don rber much from the first 24 hrs and it was a very long recovery. Naturally I was then nervous for #2 but it was night and day. I was up a couple hours after surgery, able to shower myself that next morning and only had to stay two nights at the hospital. Within a week I felt pretty much back to normal pain wise an mobility wise. Having the planned is much different since you don't labor and you are able to get up and moving quicker.

  • I will be having a repeat. My daughter will be a little over 3 when this baby is born. I'm doing a lot of prep work with her. Reminding her that I won't be able to carry her for a while after baby comes, needing her to climb into her own car seat or bed, etc. She's a child that needs to know what the plan is and what's coming. My husband will be taking off at least 4 weeks, but can take more if I need him. I think we'll be ok. My first recovery really wasn't that bad.

I have complete placenta previa, so if there is no change, she will be delivered at 37 weeks to avoid the chance of rupture. If my placenta does move, she'll arrive around 39 weeks.

My BFF just had a repeat c-section and I was amazed at how great she was moving around just a week after. She is doing so so so great! I'm hoping we all have the same good fortune!

  • I'll be having a planned c section, no later than 38 weeks, for my twins. I prefer it this way & was thrilled when my doc was on board for a scheduled section, even though I'm a FTM. Too many things can go wrong in a twin vaginal delivery!

  • Yup! I was induced for 48 hours of my first. She was sunny side up and 9 pounds. When she crowned I felt my hips pop out of place. It was terrifying. They went to induce my second daughter and she kept moving away from my cervix she refused to drop. Concerned with the possible cord around the neck I had a C-section.i have had 3 more since. This one will be my 5th. There is a huge difference between being induced and having to go into a C-section versus scheduling one. It is not dramatic. You know what's going to happen. The recovery time for me has been less and less every pregnancy. There are only two downfalls I can think of. Never once have I had my C-section at the scheduled time. Any emergency will go in before you. So expect to wait at least a few hours . Also because of the fact that I've had so many when I'm going into my last C-section I had a lot of scar tissue. It took longer to get the baby out and I had planned to get my tubes tied but because of the scar tissue they were not able to do that. Everyone is different and every C-section is different. The last hospital to deliver that was the first time the baby never left the room. They cleaned her up weighed her dressed her and put a right on me she came to recovering with me and she never left my side . The other hospital I deliver that let me see the baby and then took him away for a few hours the nursery and I hated that. Find out beforehand the policies at your hospital so you know what to expect .
  • My first child wasn't planned . Broke my water at 41+4, didn't go past 2 cm so I had a cesarean. With this one, I'm due Oct 27th && I will be having her Oct 21 .

I'm having my 2nd planned c/s, both my boys were c/s.  The second (planned) was a much easier recovery process, I'm assuming because I wasn't also trying to recover from 42 hours of labor prior to the c/s.  I was fine with the recovery the second time with a toddler at home, DH knew what to expect as far as what help I would need, and my parents were there at first as well to help with lifting LO1.  I'm excited that I know LO3 will be here early on October 5!

  • We have a rcs scheduled for Oct 12. After a very traumatic and failed induction with my first we decided this was best for our family. My son will be 2 on Oct 24 but we have been working with him trying to prepare for baby brother and hoping for the best.

Healing was pretty smooth the first time around so hopefully this time will be as well. Also I was able to nurse my son within 45 minutes of the surgery with no issues, which was the most important part of my birth plan. (The only part that went as planned lol)

However, the one part I am most nervous about is leaving my son for a few nights! It probably sounds ridiculous but he has never been left with anyone and I need to prepare myself. I know that he will be in good hands, it is just something that's hard for me. I will be trying to get home ASAP this time!
  • You may want to try leaving him for a night a few times before you going to have the baby. You don't want him to think the only time you have ever left him was to go have another baby see what I mean? Leave and come back with this squirmy thing that everyone wants to see lol total betrayal (in his eyes) my youngest turns two in September and this baby comes home in October. We have already started day trips to grandma and one overnight trip so far.
  • My c/s is scheduled for 10/15. I had several complications with my daughter's delivery and my OB recommended it. Also, there is an issue with the placenta so the perinatologist also recommended a c/s at the anatomy scan.

  • I had an induction with my first son but he was really big (10lb 9oz) and back to back with fetal decelerations so we had to give up and have an emergency section. I was hoping for a VBAC this time until we found out we are having twins so we have been told we have to deliver them at 34 weeks so looks like we are having another section!!!
