@AlexandriaNewton randomly before I read your post I turned and looked at hubby and said "I want cookie dough." Haha
@BostonBaby1 I'm sorry you not having a good day. :( I hope tomorrow is better for you.

Mine is sometimes I just don't like people, like in general (except my hubby I almost always like him). It's nothing personal more that I just don't want to hang out because I don't want to be around other people. They take energy to entertain and I have to talk and interact and sometimes o just really don't want to. I know this all might make me sound crazy but hey that's my confession.

Thank you sweetheart! And I think that that is understandable. Good thing you have a great DH!
  • This makes me wonder how many of us on these boards are introverts and extroverts (if you care about that sort of thing). I'd make a post or poll about it, but I like bandwagons, so I am going to just hitch a ride on the back of this thread.

@erikaalzet the more I see what you post, the more I just LOVE you! :x
  • @kimb311 that is kind of you. I struggle with consistency, though. Let's see if it lasts. ;) :x
  • @magburt I have never watched OITNB, speaking of FFFC.
  • @magburt I have never watched OITNB, speaking of FFFC.

It's a bit out there, but extremely entertaining.
  • I find that doing my hair after I shower is taking way too much effort these days... My confession is that I stick it on top of my head while I shower and don't wash it until it looks greasy, usually 3 days.
  • Hubby and I got up at 4 freaking am to go fishing in the rain. Oh but it was just a "light drizzle." Where we live the roads flood and landslides happen on a daily! We stopped at Walmart to buy ponchos and snacks..$50 later! Walmart is the devil. So we finally get to the lake, hike a mile to our spot, set everything up and it starts pouring. I sat there like a sad little pregnant woman and we had go pack everything up, hike upwards now, and sit in the car to wait for it to stop. It never stopped. So we drove home and he wanted breakfast, why hubby why! Moral of this is I got up at the butt crack of dawn to basically cook and watch Netflix. We also wasted too much money and now can't go watch Jurrasic World. Wahhh! Lol all for a dang fish.

I'm very sorry that you went through this! I'm sure that was extremely disappointing that the day was ruined. Just as an FYI though, the Waltmans are very nice people (at least the ones that I know) and I understand that it would be unlikely that you may come across somebody that would know them personally, however, calling Walmart the devil is a little bit offensive. I'm not trying to be adversarial with you at all, just to let you know that I know one of Sam Walton's kids (obviously they're very grown-up now) and they're very nice people (definitely not the devil.) But I do understand how it can be frustrating that you spend so much money for a day out that you did not get to enjoy. Hopefully, you will be able to use that equipment in the future! And again, I'm sorry mama that your day was ruined.

There was just no need for that. Lol is this real life?
I just wanted to let you know that they are nice people. And it was actually upsetting to me because one of his sons is a friend of mine. If I called one of your friends the devil, I'm sure that wouldn't be very nice to you. You are always claiming that people should be nice to one another. But yet, you don't seem to practice what you preach. Perhaps you just pick and choose who it is that you want to be kind to. And yes, this is real life.

It speaks volumes that you disregarded everything else I wrote in kindness. You completely discredited everything else written that validated your feelings and I wished you a better day in the future. I would ask if this was real life but unfortunately I know the truth, that it is.
  • @BostonBaby1 I don't think she was referring to the Waltons, though. I think she was referring to the magic potion that is sprinkled on the foundation of all Walmarts and Targets that make you buy more than you planned to buy. So maybe devil was too harsh. WITCH CRAFT!

And of course, I don't mean the Waltons. I mean the sorcery that is effective marketing.

And yes, this isn't my business.
And yes, @AudriannaMaria you could have said that, too.
And no, I'm not trying to start something. Just trying to prevent something.

No, absolutely agree with you and that is why I wrote what I wrote to her the way that I did. That was why I prefaced it by saying that it was highly unlikely that she would come across somebody that knew the Waltons but that it was upsetting to me because they are very nice people. I went on to tell her that I can understand that it would be disappointing to spend so much money on equipment that she did not get to use (paraphrasing.) It's just in the wording of things. The course that would've been the least adversarial would've been to say something to the effect of (and there were 1 million other responses if there needed to be one) "I didn't mean that literally."

But in any case, don't worry about diffusing the situation. Because although I appreciate your effort, I'm sure that there is no way that she is going to understand that they are nice and extraordinarily philanthropic people.

Plus, I have my big girl panties on today ;-) But thank you for your efforts. Very well worded Erika.
  • @BostonBaby1 You may have on the big girl panties, but you are wearing them with boxing gloves (reread your second paragraph).

And I'd say "thank you, __name__," but I don't think (could be wrong here) that you have given us the satisfaction of a first name, so I'm just going to call you Rachel Bilson because you won't spill the tea!

Too funny! Although I don't agree that I am wearing boxing gloves, I will agree that I have not taken off the kid gloves. I didn't realize that you couldn't wear your kid gloves well wearing your big girl panties? Is that frowned upon ;-)

Thank you, I'm not Rachel Bilson.

You crack me up Erika! Lol
  • Thank you Erika! Haha you crack me up!

Boston...this convo is just ridiculous. Please move on with it ;) thank you.
  • 100% ridiculous!
  • Just for a little pot-stirring, Walmart Philanthropy might not be what people think.  Also, one of the grandsons cheated on a friend of mine who dated him for a long time and I might still be a little bugged about it. Otherwise a nice guy, though.

*Edited to say that I actually completely agree with you because of the fact that there is no way that the Waltons care whatsoever what is said about them on this board. They are WAY above such pettiness. Obviously, I'm going to be upset if somebody calls my friend's business the devil. So you're right this is 100% ridiculous to bring it up after it was already over. In my opinion it's absolutely instigating a situation that is unnecessary.

My suggestion would be that you move on from this. I know I certainly have.
  • @bostonbaby1 I'm sorry but I do not think your post was necessary (personal opinion). I understand using a phrase to make a sarcastic statement and she mentioned Walmart not anything to do with the owners or the franchise's families. If you said something about Taco Bell (for example) and explained that they were the devil because their "menu just had too many great options and you couldn't help yourself but order a lot of items" (just a random scenario example) I would definitely not expect anyone to tag you in a post and call you out saying the owners are real high-class people and very nice and don't deserve to be referred to as the "devil". I know that you have always stood up for yourself but I think this is a time where I am actually shocked at the point that you pushed to make.

And I personally had no idea who the family of Walmart was and honestly never gave thought to the franchise owners family. Honestly I think of Walmart and know I can get a gallon of paint, a birthday card, body wash, a bag of chips and some fresh deli meat all in the same place.

I appreciate your point and I appreciate the fact that you took the time to write it out with courtesy and I want to say thank you for that. I apologize to you that you were shocked by my post and that apology is extraordinarily sincere particularly considering your time taken to explain your position. I understand where you're coming from, and to tell you the truth, that is why I wrote in my original comment that one would not expect to come across somebody that personally knows the family that started this business. They sold it many years ago, but it was their father's business and he worked extraordinarily hard to make sure that he had a reputable company. As a multi-generational business owner myself, I have to say that it is still perturbing to have all of that hard work diminished; The best way for me to explain it is to liking it to a discrediting of your ancestors. Although my family business is nowhere near the size of Walmart, we always ran our business with a similar philosophy. That was to try to bring the best prices possible to the public so that people that could not afford to purchase items at higher prices would not suffer. So to further explain why it was that I got upset when I normally would not have, it was particularly because of their philosophy to try to bring reasonable prices to the public. This is quite altruistic in big-business. The OP did not say that they had so many choices and therefore they were the "devil," perhaps I miss read it, but the gist of what I got from the post was that because $50 was spent, they are "the devil," inferring that she was overcharged. IMO, if one does not like the price of recreational equipment, they can feel free not to purchase it. It is quite dissimilar to a gallon of milk which is a necessity. It's not about them being high class; I am in no way an elitist. But I do like your reference to Taco Bell and I happen to agree that they may have too many choices on their menu although I'm not familiar enough to form a strong opinion ;-)

However, my point that you can happen across people that you may not expect to offend but you have done so inadvertently was completely lost. I also mentioned in my original post that hopefully she would be able to use the equipment later on and I continued on to wish her a better day and apologized that she had had such a rough one.

Had it been me that had written that post, with all certainty, I would have learned a lesson. That lesson being that you never know who you might happen across. I know that personally, I have advanced my career tremendously by having the ability to listen to feedback and respond back in a manner that indicates that I have heard what the other person has said.

At this point, I feel as though I've explained my position thoroughly and again, I appreciate the fact that you took the time to write out a post that was both courteous and non-instigating. It is a pleasant change of pace to be able to have a discussion that we may not agree about without it diminishing down to a lowbrow conversation. I truly admire that about you.

I hope that you have a wonderful night sweetheart!❤️
  • @BostonBaby1 I really cannot express how much I appreciate your quality and consistency to handle things so well. It is definitely something I plan to learn from. I understand where you are coming from and the reason you felt that you needed to defend. My mom owns a business and I would react the same way. Thank you for taking the time to read out my post and respond to me. I appreciate it. I definitely learned a lot from your response.

And again, I thank you very much for your kindness and the thought that you put into your original post me, as well as this follow-up one. I'm sure that you are extraordinarily proud of the business that your mother runs. I am also certain that she passed along to you many wonderful traits, including the ability to work out differences and that is a tremendous quality that I admire in you greatly. It sounds like your mother is a wonderful woman! I would also venture to say that you have a great amount of potential to be a mediator if you so choose. You are a gem sweetheart; I appreciate you very much as well!

Oh... And it really annoys me when people make posts and then disappear. If you're going to post something, stand tall and respond back to people. Don't ask for opinions or input and then run away. It's rude and inconsiderate.

^^^^ @BostonBaby1 love this so true..
  • I may be a little late to the party, but I also took the 'devil' comment as PP saying she couldn't help but buy so many items, not being overcharged.

Having just done the same at Target the other day, I completely sympathize.

That being said, this was a bizarre place of the internet to travel immediately upon waking. Yawn. Glad to see everyone talking it out.

  • @amw2133 again, the craving got the best of me yesterday. I've also been eating brownie batter without the raw egg.. I just put it in last after I've had my fill. So bad! Yesterday I made cookie dough dip. It is SO GOOD. Pinterest it if you've never had it! You dip strawberries in it or graham cracker sticks or pretty much whatever you want. It involves lots of sugar and butter and cream cheese.

I am honestly speechless with this very BIZARRE topic. I honestly could care less about the Walmart people and I'm sure they have life just like most other people on this board. I am moving on from this because I know that I can't respond in a nice way.

  • @PaneVino if you look at what she said @BostonBaby1 said she has moved on and suggested others do the same. Might as well drop it. I feel like she eloquently explained herself many many times.
  • I can't believe this is still being discussed! Why?! If anything you purposely are trying to attack me for something so small. Out of my whole post you picked the smallest part and started a "cat fight." What is the point? PLEASE move on with this ridiculous topic.
  • My eyes are rolling so hard...there was no cat fight! It was all said in a super respectful way.

Respectful would have been to not say anything at all, and this nonsense could've been avoided.

Also, very jealous of your pumpkin pie. :(

I am definitely moving on. It was the first time that I saw her post because she wrote it at like 2 am or something and I am not on here from sunup to sundown every day.

I do have a real FFFC (Sunday confession) I just ate pumpkin pie for breakfast in bed and I thoroughly enjoyed every bite.

Omg, pumpkin pie is my favorite thing ever! Now I want some sooooo bad but I'm entirely too lazy to go to the store right now. Dang you!!!!!

Where are you from? It's an American staple for Thanksgiving--but it's odd that I'm eating it in June instead of November. It's sweet and delicious. Pie crust with pumpkin filling. Hard to explain if you've never had it. I highly recommend it!

For real?! Are you not from America? Is pumpkin pie just an American thing? I guess that'd make sense with Thanksgiving and all.

Anyways, it's pumpkin mixed with cinnamon and all spice, condensed milk snd eggs and baked in a pie crust. It's delicious.
