Kate as a Middle Name?

We are going to name our daughter Layla and like the middle name Kate.  What are thoughts on using kate as a middle name since it's usually short for Katherine or something similar?


Layla Kate?

We've also considered Layla Marie

    In most cases I prefer something like Catherine vs just Kate but Layla Kate sounds fine.

    right! this is exactly what is going through my mind. I do think Layla Kate sounds nice together but I have the same preference as you normally so I'm questioning myself.

    I really like it. Kate is one of the few nicknames that I think works well as a full name. I much prefer it to Marie which to me is kind of a filler name.

    I don't mind it in the middle name spot. I like crisp, one syllable middle names, so Kate fits the bill.

    March 2011: Off Nuva, cycle back to "normal" for me: No periods since 15 years old. June 2011:Provera&50 mg Clomid; Progesterone:0.7 July 2011:Provera&100mg Clomid; Progesterone:3.29 Met with RE:No Clomid response, begin injectables Sep 5 mg Letrozole and Ovidrel in the interim month. Cut out running (was a distance-runner), cycling, eliptical. Restricted to weight-training, walking, pilates. Brain MRI normal. Being physically over-stressed is the reason the body stopped producing prog. Late Sep 2011: Menopur, Ovidrel,& IUI (10.10.11):BFN-Great injectable response: 2 mature, 6 near mature, many smaller; Problem: 9 cysts! Dr: IUI too uncontrolled for number of viable eggs & age. On to IVF! IVF ER 12.6: 37 mature eggs, 27 fertilized, froze all to avoid overstimulation; FET 1.22 (2 Grade 1)=BFN; FET 2.22 (3 Grade 2)=BFP!     I like Kate as a middle name. Layla Kate is a great name. I like Layla Katherine too, though.

    Katherine; but you can call her Layla Kate as a nn if you're going for the double name obviously.

    Layla Kate sounds odd and incomplete to me. There's too much long A sound going on. I think Layla Katherine sounds better.

    My daughter's middle name is Kate so I'm a bit biased but I think Layla Kate is cute. Kate is only one of a few nicknames that I think works well as a stand alone name.

    I really appreciated all your input so thought I'd share what we have decided. I do like Kate as a middle name, however we are going with Layla Catherine.

    I love the name Kate. I think it stands on its own! & Layla Kate is super cute.
