I like the flow of Emmett James and I think it's less popular than Jack Marshall. but Jack Marshall sounds a lot more masculine to me (which is a priority to me and my boyfriend when naming our son) and also if it were me I wouldn't like people using "Em" as a nn for Emmett seeing as how Em sounds very feminine to me and is usually the nn for Emma. So in short id go with Emmett if you're not worried about him being called Em which sounds very feminine to me.

I have never heard of Emmett being shortend to Em or Emmett being seen as non masculine. Marshall is actually my favorite name up there but I just can't get behind another Jack/Jackson or anything like it. Emmett James is solid.

I love Emmett. I would have used it but DH was so/so on it and he got a little more naming rights to our second son because we named our first after my grandpa and it was my first choice James is fine, but kind of blah to me. I've known a ton of Jim/James' so it doesn't do anything special for me.

Sorry, I thought your second choice was James. Jack is nice, but very overused, so I still pick Emmett!
