To take Lamaze or not? I don't feel a strong inclination to do so. I haven't heard any positive stories. Can I replace this with a book? Thoughts? Experiences?
I hear more women prefer Bradley classes. I like Birth Boot Camp. I read a ton of books on natural childbirth and watch births on YouTube all the time.
I took it before my first. Didn't use anything about it and it was kind of a waste to me. Just find ways you can breathe and relax. That helped me more than those techniques. Although I went the epidural route. If you are going natural it might be good to learn some better techniques.
I didn't do classes with my first (natural birth) and wished I had. Some things (like positions and counter pressure) are harder to figure out from books alone. This time I don't have time for a full class, so I'm reading through a couple new books, including the Lamaze guide, and my doula is giving us some private coaching in Lamaze as well (she's an instructor too).
If you can do the class it'll probably be helpful, but there are definitely other ways to get the information.
