Middle name Cooke for Boy & Girl?

So my husband and I are trying for # 2 and if we have a boy we are thinking about naming him Caleb Cooke. Cooke has special meaning since its a family name and the first boy in the family always has Cooke as a middle name. Well we already have a daughter and there is a 50% chance we will have another girl the second time around. We will not try to have 3 children. So IF we have another girl what are your thoughts on using Cooke as teh girls middle name in order to sort of carry on the family tradition?

We are thinking Mackenzie Cooke as the girls name.

Re: Middle name Cooke for Boy & Girl?

  • I can get behind family names in the middle name spot, lots of people use the mothers maiden name in the mn spot for either boy or girl and this seems pretty similar.

  • I think if you're absolutely sure you won't be having another, you should use it. Since it's a family name and tradition, I think it's fine in the mn spot for either boy or girl.

  • I think it is fine, due to family tradition. Mackenzie isn't the best, though.
  • I think it's lovely to honor family with the middle name spot. The names flow nicely.

    I think it's nice.

  • I think it's fine as a mn. I give people lots of leeway with mns, especially if there's meaning.
  • It sounds like a surname to me but I don't think twice about folks getting inventive in the MN slot. However, this means if you name your daughter Mackenzie Cooke _______ she'll have three last names. Rethink the FN.
