Just when I start learning different folks personalities and seeing awesome relationships form even if it's social media i have come to the conclusion that I think we are all on edge. I have never in one hour read so much sarcasm and general grouchiness geared at each other either towards the newbies or long time users. Some definitely more aggressive than others and I can't wait to get the flame thrown at me for saying this but people take this forum way way way to personal and make it all about them. I feel like there are a certain few that monitor these threads like an overbearing hall monitor. Like cmon these boards are for general conversations about each of our thoughts and experiences. The whole time I was reading a post made by someone unfamiliar I was thinking of the movie Mean Girls and low and behold someone put and actual MG gif and I doubled over from laughter and then realized holy crap this is just like HS who is popular who is cooler blah blah blah. I think if certain users were to have been the one that started certain threads no one would have said a word, like they are more socially accepted repeat threads because it's from the cool kids. I don't know...maybe Im the one who is grouchy and just needed an outlet of my own and used the boards as my catalyst... Sue me. I have to admit I do feel better getting that off my chest. I would say if you have a complaint you could leave it here but there is already a thread for that.... Sorry.

I'm afraid to start a new thread! I have a few questions, but I'm afraid I'll put it in the "wrong" place. So, for now, I comment on existing threads and hope I don't upset anyone.

FWIW, I've been lurking on this board on and off since the fall, I started commenting earlier this spring (March, maybe), and in April (or so) started reading daily (ok, multiple times daily). I'm probably not well known in the community, so I feel like one of these days I'll get flamed for something.

I probably should just quit reading, but as I get closer to my babes arriving, I do like reading about what others are going through.

Me too. I didn't start out posting and reading and being involved until a few months ago and I'm like you too afraid to tick someone off because Im not an original. Oh well. I just like reading in real time what women are going through and what they are thinking and just general insites and advice anyone has to offer. I'm scared to death of what my body is fixing to have to go through and these boards keep me entertained. I would hate for it to become a huge brat fest towards others. Maybe I'm a dreamer but I'm not the only one:) que John Lennon saying something else peaceful...

@kissell I think you have one of the first genuinely unpopular opinion Thursday posts we have had in a long time! I get where you are coming from...don't agree with everything, but I get it.

And whoever told you that life wasn't going to be like high school was wrong!! It's just now that bitch on the dance squad from my Chem class is the HR rep. And that bafflingly dumb/charming/arrogant jock sells me insurance. The gothy art kids all work in sales and write content. That weird kid is in IT, and the valedictorian moved to NYC.

Pregnant women who are cranky and sassy in the third trimester with hormonal mood swings? Who us? I wish I had the same level of patience I did before I was pregnant, I just don't. I am a fan of the organized threads and a little sass. It's freaking boring if it's all kumbaya and braiding each other's hair on here. We've had plenty of weeks like that...and I personally like the way things are now. I thank you for stoking the fire, this should be another good thread. =D>

Support and tolerating stupidity are not the same thing. No one cares about an individual's symptom unless it is in the symptoms thread ... No one has anything that special going on... And then there have been the few really oddball posts that makes us question if they are even real posts.

Oh and yeah.... To the point. These threads are hilarious and anyone can comment but if you ask dumb medical questions 24 hrs a day your bound to get made fun of. If your light hearted, funny, or original in your postings then there shouldn't be a problem.

Thank you so much for this! When I downloaded this app I didn't notice the community part for a while. I feel like I always have to second guess myself if I should even post a new discussion. Honestly I thought the community was there for questions to be answered. Heck I still have trouble navigating through and searching sometimes. I started commenting and posting not to long ago, but I feel more comfortable just reading than anything.

I am a big supporter of the sass, clearly. But I think that's how I am with most real life relationships. Perhaps there are others I should be more delicate with but where's the fun in that?

One thing that did strike me that you mention @kissell is that you feel like you don't belong because you're not "an original". That's just silly. Jump right in! I lurked for most of my first trimester and began speaking up well into my second trimester. I realized it doesn't matter if you've been here 5 minutes or 5 months so long as you were bringing something to the conversation or at least not asking this group something you easily could have googled or read in your copy of "what to expect when you're expecting" (admits, we all have it).

So seriously please don't take personal offense to the sass. We're all blowing off steam, sharing experiences and going through this roller coaster together. If we can't have fun with it, why bother using a forum with living breathing people? There's always that copy of your book lying around somewhere...

I don't think anyone is sitting here like "oh I can't wait for someone to post something dumb so I can flame them for it" with an evil grin-- But if no one took the initiative to organize this board it would be completely useless to everyone. People with legitimate questions or concerns would have to wade through pages and pages of shit to find something useful.

Also, the regular readers and posters are a very diverse group and are caring enough to provide probably 90% of the answers to other users' questions on this board. If you've read anything at all on here you should realize that when you post a question you are basically asking them. They're being nice enough to take the time to either give you an answer or direct you to where you can find one! Isn't that why you posted on this board instead of googling? You can't ask someone a question and then whine because you don't like their answer. Sorry!

Is it sassy to post a thread about sass?

Though it may not come through in these repetitive posts I have to say these ladies are extremely supportive. They even notice when members of the board haven't posted in a while and wonder if they are okay.

I think we all empathize with the anxiety and panic and stress that this journey can cause. But it's difficult to want to answer the same question when it's asked so many times just in a different form.

I joined and once thought the same thing when posters would refer people to other posts etc. but I understand and appreciate the reason for doing so. If you look at boards the really big threads often get lost in the multitudes of similar threads meaning everyone misses out.

Anyway just my two cents. Don't be afraid to post - as long as you are using common sense and good judgement you'll be fine. People aren't just waiting to pounce on anyone.

Maybe I just read like three different threads back to back because they were new and immediately regretted it for the op because of the negativity that was thrown back and forth. Not for the actual question per say. (I think it goes without saying that the thread about the anger issue and wellbeing of the child was complete BS!!) @klkonwi yes you have and from your previous posts and answers you have lots a great advice and general knowledge that I find refreshing. Also you have great topic starters as well! Love internal thoughts. Peed my pants from all the responses!! @Serenamarr I agree with you a bit but I think I was trying to hone in on us being (myself included) a bit more grouchy today than other days. I am well aware of the top 10 posters and commenters and without them the boards would be that awkward cricket noise in silence... Also just to admit... I had no idea about the search bar until like 3 days ago!! Oops.

Like asking a group of animal lovers if you should rehome your cats, and getting bent out of shape when they don't say "absolutely! You go girl! Get rid of those cats!"

I didn't 'join' until maybe January. So I haven't been here 30 weeks, either. And I try to be flame gentle. But, as PP have said, sometimes the questions make you shake your head for the lack of common sense displayed. Or people ask questions that so obviously need to be addressed to a medical professional, and when they are directed to medical professional, someone else jumps in and says 'you're not being supportive!'. Well, no kidding. Cause I don't want to tell this woman everything will fine with her serious sounding issue and have her or her baby have something terrible happen to them because they listened to me - a former veterinary technician now bartender - instead of consulting their doctor.
Also - I'm old(ish) so when there are 3 threads on the front page about an issue, and half the group is talking said issue in daily symptoms... And someone comes in and starts a new thread about it - it just makes me think that all the youngin's are just self absorbed and would rather stand up and (figuratively) shout - "stop talking about that over there! Look at me! Why won't anybody answer me?!" than bother to take 2 minutes to read the headers to other threads, and an additional 5 minutes to read daily symptoms, and thus find what they are looking for. It's like there has to be instant gratification for you (not YOU specifically OP, the hypothetical you random person posting) without you bothering to take some ownership of your own education and look around first. That's just selfishness and laziness, in my opinion, and that shit annoys me.

Please comment and ask questions. But, don't think if you are directed somewhere else its because people are being snarky. It's because 1) organization helps. It truly does. PP comment about not being able to find relevant info because of a multitude of individual threads asking about diarrhea is absolutely true. If you had diarrhea, and wanted to see what others were doing, wouldn't you rather get a bunch of info from one thread with 50 contributors (daily symptoms) than have to click thru a million threads, each with 5 comments on it? And 2) there is usually better information where you are being directed.

And lastly - most of my comments are as if I'm talking to someone I already know. So, at least with me, pretend that we have known each other for a long time, and are able to say whatever without having to play nice. If a friend of mine says to me 'hey I plan to ride my motorcycle at 100mph without a helmet' I'm going to say 'dude. Seriously? Don't be a effing idiot'. Sometimes we all need a reality check. Even me. And I've been reality checked here (common core, anyone?) and walked away better for it. >-

And btw no one monitors these threads (like a hall monitor) and no one attacks newbies. It isn't about being a cool kid. Most all of the redundant threads get and answer from plenty of the "cool kids" we dont leave them in the dark. No one is out right mean unless they are provoked. Only a few even have the balls to direct people to different threads.

@mellymar I agree with most of what you said. It's annoying when there are multiple threads on the same topic on page 1. The only possible defense I can think of to that is that, when I read on my computer, page 1 is a lot longer than page 1 on my phone app. So people on the app MIGHT have a tread on page 2 instead of page 1. Still not much of a defense, but I guess I'm trying to white knight a little for the annoying thread starters.

One thing I disagree with (and I know I'm in the minority here, and nobody's going to change their mind because of my unpopular opinion) is that the daily symptom thread is too random for me. So if I want to read about others with diarrhea, I'd rather read 1 thread about diarrhea. If I want to NOT read about diarrhea, I can skip that thread.

So instead, I read the daily symptom thread, and out of 50 posts, 5 are about diarrhea, 5 are about tiredness, 5 are about sore lady bits, etc., all jumbled up. Maybe I want to skip "sore lady bits" today, but in reading the daily symptoms, I can't avoid it.

Again, this is just my two cents, and I know the board isn't going to change. (1. Because this is the consensus and the preferred organization method. And 2. This is how it's been organized, presumably, from the beginning).

Just wanted to throw that out there, maybe to defend some of the posters who don't fit into the mold that the community has created.

When I first got the bump app and checked out the boards I was fairly appalled at the overall tone of some of the members. Some ladies were just flat out mean, and had ridiculous responses to some fairly benign posts. I have to say that it seems like the overall attitude has changed quite a bit in more recent months and I quite enjoy most of the threads and responses. No one seems like they are overly eager to flame or be mean for the sake of being mean. I don't see responses going completely overboard these days. Overall, I am impressed with the maturity of the group and the willingness of mostly strangers to offer support to others during this challenging time in our lives.

I thought the same thing. I posted once and thought people were so rude and decided I wouldn't post again, but thought nah I will. I won't let these ladies stop me. Yeah you can Google whatever but it's nice having actual experience from somebody without the attitude.

It makes perfect sense that when I was in the hospital overnight in march that I posted my own thread because I needed support........ That's something that deserves it's own thread. If your bogged down with 5 "am I in labor" b.s. Threads than no one is going to know I'm in the hospital and that I need support.
It's just basic common sense.

I think what gets us most is when ladies post things that seem to be extremely emergent and then coming to us first before calling their doctor. Like wtf!!? And then getting pissed when we say "your doctor would know more" or "call your doctor"
