Does anyone know if it is safe to take AZO for UTI relief (relief not treatment). I can't get to the doctor until tomorrow for an antibiotic and Its so uncomfortable right now!
I don't know about AZO's safety. I've doused my intestines with pure cranberry before. The stuff that comes in the glass bottle that tastes horrible...
I've had success and (surprising) relief with that.
I agree with PP. Plus Azo never worked for me so I've always just drowned myself with water and cranberry juice and that always seems to help. I imagine that Azo is probably safe since its more like a vitamin, but I'm not an expert by any means!
Not sure if it is safe during pregnancy, but my doctor has always told me not to take AZO until after I've been in and and my urine sample taken as it might have an affect on the tests and culture they do. When I first have signs of a UTI I take Nature Made's 1 a day cranberry pill with lots of water and usually by the time I get to the doctor I'm almost better and she tells me to just continue that instead of prescribing me antibiotics.
I have taken AZO (not while pregnant. .) And it did wonders. Once I got pregnant and had a flare up, I didn't want to risk it, so I bought 100% cranberry juice with NO sugar (tastes horrible but if you cut it with water it's tolerable. .) And downed that for 2 days.. cleared right up. Good luck and feel better!
Uricalm works much better for me. Honestly, minutes to relief. I've had FOUR UTI's this pregnancy, been through two cycles of antibiotics and still can kick them but the Uricalm takes the pain and thy awful urge away.
