Does an Opk test line get gradually darker as you get closer to O? I got my IUD removed a month ago and I've been testing with them each afternoon. I'm seeing nothing but very faint lines. I'm also still breastfeeding my 28 month old so I'm not even sure if I'm ever going to ovulate.

Not for me. I can go from completely stark white negative in the am to very positive in the afternoon.

Sorry. I got cutoff. I'm sorry she messed with your head. Next time ask for the exact number of follies and their exact measurements. Good luck!

    Thanks @27alex and @AshleyD917 !

I use a face bar for washing my face at night. I've been slacking a while and my face has been fine, but I started again a month or so ago and I've been having more breakouts. Hmm, maybe it's stripping away too many oils (I have oily but sensitive skin).

I've been trying to stay away from parabens! There's something else I've also been avoiding but I can't remember what. My coworker gave me a soy wheat leave-in conditioner that I'm hesitant to use because there are parabens in it.

I looked up my lotion on that website the other day (St Ives) and it didn't get a very good rating (but not terrible). Not sure how my bath & body works soap fares haha. I haven't noticed those affecting me at all so I'll probably keep using them.

Has anyone taken prednisone while TTC? I was supposed to be on it for 14 days for a spider bite but I weaned myself off earlier.

I frequently am on prednisone for ulcerative colitis management- my gastroenterologist says prednisone is ok in pregnancy.

I'll ask a question that I don't feel is important enough to be its own thread because I'm honestly just curious. Have any of you ladies bought baby things while TTC? My mom said she wanted to get me a baby bullet last Christmas since I wanted one for baby in the future but I felt weird about it. But when I go to target I always want to buy something. Or to start converting the office into what will be the nursery. DH thinks I'm nuts and I'm worried about jinxing myself. Anyone have thoughts?

My mom and dad recently brought over my old baby crib for us to use eventually. I feel a bit weird about setting it up so its in pieces in the garage. I don't think I'd buy anything because it makes me too bummed. For that reason I no longer look at baby boards on Pinterest.

is it a cradle or a crib, because safety standards for cribs have changed since we were babies.

  • For my first pregnancy which ended in miscarriage, my DH bought a baby book, a teething ring, whale stuff to decorate the guest bathroom for a kiddo...I put it all away in a closet for now. It makes me sad to look at it. Next time, I hope my DH waits to buy things until at least after the first trimester.

I didn't even think about my face wipes. I use Burt's Bees so I think they are pretty natural but now I'm going to double check.

What about toothpaste and mouthwash? A friend of mine said she changed her toothpaste, shampoo, conditioner, and wouldn't even paint her nails when she was pregnant. Is it better to go all natural with that too when TTC or pregnant?

Are old bassinets ok? My parents have a bassinet/buggy thing from when I was a baby. They also have a high chair/stroller/car seat thing but I know it definitely isn't safe as a car seat.

I won't be taking my old bassinet, I'll just use a pack n play. The bassinet came house all the dolls/stuffed animals eventually.

I wouldn't trust an old bassinet either, personally. They used to make them much softer and that's a risk factor for sids.

Thanks @TheBorg7of9 and @27alex ! We'll be getting a P&P so we'll probably end up using that. I haven't seen the bassinet up close but I'll take a look at it if/when we get it. I like the idea of the bassinet housing stuffed animals.
  • Wow, so much good advice on here -- great thread OP!

Didn't even know about the salicylic acid... my face is going to be a wreck, too, @MrsDepo.  :(

I have not bought any baby stuff.  It's not that I'm worried about "jinxing" myself, it's just that when the time DOES come, I want to be a bit more organized than I am now.  I know that boxes of baby stuff right now will just stress me out.  We are thinking of moving this year, too, so it would just be extra crap to deal with!  Plus, I want to have a baller baby registry ;)

I picked up a changing table for free on the side of the road! Figured it was one piece of furniture I didn't care to spend a ton on, and don't know if will have that chance when PG! It was on the street in my neighborhood so just convenient. It sits in my basement until we need it. Trying to avoid it in general though so not to jinx it or make it too hard.

  • I won't buy anything until a BFP because I'm a total purger. I hate holding on to stuff we don't use because our house just doesn't have enough places for storage, so I'm always dropping stuff off at Goodwill. I just can't justify the space for baby stuff until a baby is on the way.

Yes! I feel this need to purge all DD's stuff too, but I'm holding on to it for another baby. Sometimes I dream about giving all of it away and starting over when the time comes though.

This made me giggle a little because, like I said, I'm a purger, but it's DH's stuff I'm always trying to get rid of. Hee hee hee. Whenever he can't find something he always accuses me of donating it. Hehe, I know the feeling. He is such a hoarder! And his fashion sense is less than mediocre. We recently cleaned out his closet and he grudgingly donated four bags of clothing. It was soooo satisfying. Especially some particular pieces in those four bags :).

A couple years ago, before I was married and long before TTC was a thought in my mind, I bought a few of these adorable onesies from Baby Gap with the intention of giving them to a cousin as a baby shower gift. I was so in love with these baby clothes, I couldn't bear to part with them, so I put them away for my own kid and got my cousin something else! Haha, but that's it. I haven't ever done acupuncture for TTC but know people who have and it really helped with their cycles. I have gotten acupuncture for other things though and honestly the needles are nothing. Most of them I didn't feel go in and they are incredibly thin, thinner than a strand of hair. Once in you don't feel any of them! It's very relaxing. I also hated needles when I went for sessions and it didn't bother me.

  • Hello Ladies, long time lurker here...

I was on BCPS for about 9 years before I stopped taking it 8 months ago when DH and I started TTC.  My cycles were regular as soon as I stopped taking the pill (29 or 30 days). After months of BFN's I decided to go back to weight watchers to try and lose some weight to see if that would help. Well, as soon as I started losing weight my cycles started getting really long. Last cycle was 38 days and this cycle I'm on CD40 with no AF and BFN this morning.... what could be causing this and should I wait till I hit CD60 before calling my doctor??

What are you doing to lose weight and how drastic?  Long before I was TTC, exercise *def* messed with my cycles (as in, only got my period once all of fall semester...).  If you've suddenly changed something (like adding in lots of exercise where there was none, or some of the diets that cut out whole categories of food), I would guess that it could mess with your cycle while your body adjusts to a new normal.  I'm basing that on personal experience and what I've read while TTC.  Are you temping?  BBT (by confirming ovulation or lack thereof) can help determine if you cycles are "just longer" - as they vary and 38-40 days isn't terribly long; or if you aren't ovulating, in which case, talking to a doctor might be the next step.

I started acupuncture 4 weeks ago and had a period 2 weeks later.  Went off the shot in November, and never started having a period.  Can't say for sure it was the acupuncture (since the shot takes a while to get out of the system), but I also can't discount the timing either.
  • Do you chart your last couple days of your period as spotting, light, or nothing? I'm talking about when you no longer have to wear a pad or tampon just discoloration when wiping (sorry if TMI).

Also how long did it take to get the hang of checking your cervical position? I've read TCOYF and I question whether I "feel" what I am suppose to be feeling. Anyone have trouble checking? I have a tilted cervix (so I've been told) and I'm sure that's part of my problem. Tips are much appreciated.

Has anyone taken prednisone while TTC? I was supposed to be on it for 14 days for a spider bite but I weaned myself off earlier.

I frequently am on prednisone for ulcerative colitis management- my gastroenterologist says prednisone is ok in pregnancy.

I took prednisone for Crohn's Disease for most of my first trimester with DD1. She'so a happy, healthy 10yo. :)

Hello Ladies, long time lurker here...

I am not adding crazy exercise (maybe 3-5 hours a week from nothing at all) and I'm doing weight watchers (which I've done on and off since I was 16 years old). So not cutting any major food groups out of my diet other than processed foods and sugary crap which I can't imagine would mess with my hormones. I've lost 15lbs in 9 weeks so I don't think that's too drastic of weight loss... I did try to temp this past cycle and got frustrated when I wasn't seeing spikes after OPK was positive.. So maybe I'm just not ovulating... I'm going to call my Dr. on Monday...

    Thanks!
