Just looking for opinions on these two. Big brothers are Landon and Porter and our last name is pronounced Shy-Bee. Middle name is set on Elizabeth.

Re: Two girl names

  • I voted for Amelia but I think it's becoming really popular so if popularity is a problem for you, you might want to go with Aurora.

  • They're both great names, but I voted for Aurora.
  • I much prefer Aurora and it's a lot less popular. Amelia was ranked 17 in 2013 and has been increasing for years.

  • Amelia is a great fit with Landon and Porter. Aurora is too earth mother to me and way too opposite your boys' names.
  • Amelia is fun to say.  They're both great names though and work with the middle and last name.

  • I love Amelia! I always find aurora a bit awkward to say.

  • I have always like Amelia but it is gaining popularity so skip it if that bothers you.  Aurora is also pretty and I love how the O's flow through all three siblings' names.
  • I like Amelia much more. Aurora is too frilly for me, and I like frilly.
  • Aurora is a mouthful. Not a fan in the least. Amelia is beautiful

  • I like Amelia, but prefer the spelling Emilia. The name is pretty popular but I haven't seen much of the second spelling.

They're different. Amelia is derived from a completely different name then Emilia. And realistically, it doesn't make any sense to change the spelling of a name because one variant is more popular. If the names are pronounced the same she'd still be Emilia Last Initial if there is an Amelia in the same class. Or Emilia With An E.

That actually was going to be my next post. What is the difference between Amelia and Emilia? I have never seen that name Emilia before so I assumed it was just a 'youneek' way to spell Amelia.

Emilia is the masculine form of Emil, which is derived from Aemilius (Latin). Amelia is a variant of Amalia which is the Latinized form of Amala (Germanic).

    Thank you!
  • I voted Amelia. Aurora is pretty, but can be difficult and awkward to pronounce.
  • Both are great!
