I have PCOS and my acne has gotten out of control. Anyone else experiencing severe acne? What products are you using? Is going to a dermatologist worth it or would I be unable to use anything they would prescribe?
I think there is a lot of debate about what is ok to use and what isn't. Some docs feel using anything containing salicylic acid is bad, some docs say use any otc face wash you want. There is also a lot of debate with only fuzzy research to back it up on the use of oils and such. I'd discuss it with your OB, first. If not, any competent dermatologist should know what is contraindicated for pregnant women.
I've been really breaking out on the left side of my face lately and I just realized yesterday what there's a high probability that it's because I usually hold my phone on my left side! So gross to think about.
I haven't found any products that work well yet but I'm following this thread in the hope that someone has an idea!
My acne is so bad around my chin and hairline. It's hormonal so I know it won't go away until after the baby is born. I just make sure to wash my face every night and I only use diluted tea tree oil as a spot treatment. It works very well, however it doesn't prevent.

That's where mine is too. I was prescribed Clindamycin and have been using it for years, and the nurse said it's okay to use during pregnancy.
The coconut and tea tree oil can be mixed and spread over the face. It can also be used over your entire body as a moisturizer, especially after a shower.
*Please be aware that even if oils are natural some of them are not indicated for pregnancy. These forums are an awesome place to start finding solutions, but please always do your own research. What is ok in one of our situations may not be safe for another woman.
Coconut oil and tea tree oil are both natural and help!
How do you use the coconut oil? My face has decided this is the week to have a million zits. And they are the deep ones that hurt.
The deep ones that hurt are cysts. Use a warm compress and a drying agent (toothpaste works really well) but whatever you do refrain from messing with them!
