In theory it sounds awesome but I just don't have the will to keep up with the washing. There is so much info about it nowadays. Isn't there a cloth diapering board?
I used then with my first, spend $140 on a start up and they lasted me the whole two years until he was potty trained!! Will use them again with baby #2
We do them part time with DS (daycare won't take them, so we use disposables there). I'm hoping he's fully potty trained by January so we can use our stash for the new kid. I love them, and the laundry isn't too bad. Since we only use them part time it only means an extra 1-2 loads of laundry per week.
I did it with my first and we plan on reusing them again for this LO. The Cloth Diapering board on here was so helpful! I started with a trial from Jillian's Drawers. They're based out of Ithaca, NY and their trial is great! They send you a bunch of different styles and whatever you don't like you send back to them. I didn't find the washing to be that bad, it was a load every other day. When it's nice out you can hang them on a line to dry.
I am def not using cloth diapers, mainly because I don't want to wash poopy diapers. I like the convenience of just tossing a dirty one away and putting on a new one.
We use cloth with dd and love them. The laundry was daunting at first but you get into a routine. There is a cloth diapering Board under specialty. They are very helpful. At least they were in the past. I have been away from the bump for a while.
Definitely open to trying. My husband is in the Air Force and if all goes according to plan we will be moving with a two month old. As silly as it sounds I want to see what our new home will be like before I decide whether or not to do it. I'd like to make sure we have a good washing machine and possibly are even able to get a little hose on the toilet to help with cleaning.
I have two friends who use them. One has a service who cleans them for her, the other does them herself. She is completely addicted to them!! I have babysat a couple times and I have to say I don't love them because of the leaks, but she loves them!

I use them with DD. We have all pockets, a mix of Fuzzibunz and Charlie Banana. I love them. I paid a little under $200 for 25 diapers and all other cloth diapering items and accessories. It's a great way to save money, and it's great for the environment.
They do leak pee more often than disposables, but I've found that they contain poop better.
Just a word of caution: it's super easy to get sucked into the world of "fluff" addiction. Once you see how cute cloth diapers can be, you will want ALL of them.
Use them. Love them. Will use them again this time b
Dealing with poop is inevitable and I deal with FAR less poopy clothes with my 2nd in cloth than I did with my first in disposables. Blowouts were a frequent occurrence in disposables.
I've pretty much tried all kinds so feel free to ask any questions. And I agree with with PP it's easy to get overwhelmed and sucked in the fluff addiction! I felt very overwhelmed at first but just remembered these are used to catch poop! Have fun!!
Edited to add: I rarely have leaks. After finding the right fit and kind it's easy to not leak!

We've used them with both of our children, and will use them again for this baby. They are so much easier than they seem, but as a previous poster has mentioned - beware! They are addicting!
Hey yall! I'm a first time mom here, and about to be 20. I have heard about cloth diapers, and I've heard they do save money and they don't take up that much more laundry time, but at the same time if you go hunting on the Internet in less than 5 minutes you can come up with some awesome deals on really really cheap good brand disposable diapers. I'm not trying to convince anyone against em I mean if you find something you love do it! I think I'm going to stick with disposable for the time being.
Used them with my first 2 until I went back to work full time. Then we switched to spouses be a use I couldn't keep up with laundry. Not sure what we'll do this time around. If we have 3 in dipes, we're definitely doing sposies.
We've used them with all our kids and will use them again. Love them!! They're definitely not for everyone, but they work for us especially in the newborn stage when baby is solely breastfeeding. Once our kids start eating solely solid foods, we switch to disposables mainly because I hate spraying poopy diapers lol.
We cloth diapered with our son. But I am not sure about with this second one. Mainly because we will be moving to an apartment and I don't want to do poopy diapers in the community washing machine. If we find an rental with it's own washing machine or a reasonable laundry service I will def do cloth because that's what we did with our LO.
We are seriously considering cloth diapering. With this being our first I am worried about the mess and all the laundry... But have friends who only sing praises Of cloth diapers and love that their kids potty train fairly early.
Your cloth diapers won't leak if you change them frequently & the fit is correct. You cannot go as long in between changes with a cloth diaper as you can with a sposie. Good rule of thumb is every 2 hours at first, adjust as you figure out what works best.

I am using cloth diapers with DS (bumgenius pockets) and I love them. Yes, there is the extra hassle of washing but I'd rather was than have to go out to the store to buy disposables. And like a pp said, you get in a routine and it's not so bad. It is definitely overwhelming when you're looking into it but it's not as bad once you dive in!
Yes, they may leak if you don't change the baby often enough but I've only had poop escape the diaper a couple of times at most and DS never had a diaper rash! I am a big fan of cloth diapers.
I chose to do it for environmental reasons. I'd feel so guilty throwing all of those diapers in the trash. And I hate poo as much as the next person but you get used to it.... Wait, no you don't! It's always gross. I just hate waste more than poo I guess! Good luck!
We cloth diaper with #1. He may or may not be out of diapers before baby #2 arrives, but we will definitely continue to cloth diaper. My husband is a cloth diapering convert. I'm excited to have an excuse to buy a few more cute diaper prints once baby #2 is born.
I have cloth diapered my last son from like 3mo to now (2.5, he's almost potty trained thank gosh!). I use Thirsties covers, with osocozy prefolds. I've have to buy three different sizes of prefolds, but I'll have those for this one too! I also have some Thirsties pockets, and fitteds (those still need a cover). Somehow I became brand loyal lol.
I'm thinking about buying some newborn all-in-ones (AIOs) with the umbilical snap down for this one. If anyone has any questions about CDing I am more than happy to help! The great thing about CDing in the beginning is just throwing those things in the wash without a care, haha. I will not miss dumping solids
We are part timed with DS, our washer didn't clean them well. So I'm hoping that since we have a different washer now, it will make it easier to keep on top of them this time!!
I used cloth with my third baby... I love them for the solely breastfed stage. I will also say once solid foods were introduced, I strayed back to sposies . Also I found they leaked more for overnight wearing, even the charcoal and bamboo nighttime ones. But birth to 5 months... LOVED them!! GL!!!
I'm planning on using cloth diapers - If you are a crafty type, it's not too hard to sew the covers yourself. It's not a tough pattern at all - all you need is the right materials, most of which are available online. Some sewing stores will even have 'things for baby' classes and workshops where diaper covers are included.
Oh yeah - if you are shopping for a washer/dryer - our new Maytag Bravos has a sanitize setting that is designed just for gross baby/kid stuff.
I currently use them for my 14 month old and I will use them for the next. It can be a lot of work but if you get a good routine going then it's not so bad. We use cloth because it is a lot cheaper than disposible. I say so for it mama! There are a lot of used diapers out there in really good shape still. I would suggest checking out some facebook groups in your area for cd. I also bought a batch of used ones on Craigslist so you can look there too.
I've used them on both my children, (well my second was half and half with cloth and disposables, lol). I'd like to use them again, and make my own, which I've done before too. With my youngest being 4.5yrs old, we don't have any left, so I'll be starting from scratch, but at least I already know what types I like
We will be using cloth diapers--my mom had all of us kids in cloth diapers when we were babies and I plan on continuing the trend. I also don't like the idea of adding even more diaper waste to the landfills (plus, our washer is very efficient so hopefully the water waste from the extra washings isn't very much).
We have used disposable for all and will w/ this LO. 1. It is more convenient, especially for the babysitter and 2. I would be afraid of all of the leaks!
My in-laws went diaper free for both of their children (!!). As a result I feel like I've recoiled so far from anything "natural" and "intimate" such as this that I didn't even consider cloth diapers when I thought about it - straight to disposables!
I love love love cloth diapers. Took my first two from newborn to potty trained in the bum genius and flip systems. Never had an issue with leaks. Will definitely use for this little nugget

I used them with my 1st LO- She is just potty trained (2.5 yrs old)
Will sell the ones from my stash, that I wasn't super fond of and buy more of the kind I like and def use them again.
