I'm really liking Layken Blair for a girl.. we find out what we are having in a week and its bothering me that we don't have a set girl name. Boy name has been set for 3 years!
Just being honest (so I don't need you coming back and throwing unnecessary flames and giving my grief about "not saying something nice so don't say anything at all" - that's not how the internet works), but I wouldn't name a child a made up name like "Layken". It's hard for me to picture a grown, 35 yr old woman with a name like that, just something to consider!
I wouldn't take this over to the baby name board because they might rip you a new one. If you must, I'd follow the PP's suggestion and go with a classic middle name to balance it out. But I would just consider a whole different name. And sorry, you can get mad at my opinion because we are all entitled to them, and you asked for suggestions.
ETA: I like "different" but also "real with meaning and history", there are lots of lovely names like that out there to choose from that are not at the top of the popular list.

I like Layken and I know I've heard it before but maybe as a boys name? Not that it matters. My DS is Taylen and yes it's "made up" and yes sometimes people think it's a girls name, lol. I would go with something feminine like Audra, Noelle, Elise. Blair is feminine but it's just not my favorite. My other thought is using a family name. My son's middle name is my grandmother's maiden name and if we have another boy his middle name will be after DH's side of the family.
I like the name. And it actually isn't a "made up" name. It is just a different spelling. It is a variant form meaning lake. I myself have a very unusual name for American standards and like that I don't run across people with the same name as me. I think there are lots of middle names that sound would beautiful with it, but it always depends in the last name. I like Layken Reese. Good luck!
I actually know 4 " Laken's” boys and girls and I live in a very small town. I don't think it's made up at all just a different spelling. I have a daughter named Kamryn and people either don't know how to pronounce it or think she is a boy but we love common names but different spellings. I like Layken Blair is adorable!
I think it's very unique and a sweet name if it fits your family Layken Blair is very cute. I know plenty of Blairs who are both genders, so I don't think it's especially girly, but I also don't think it has to be for your daughter to be "girly"!
Someone mentioned Layken Grace, too, and I like that one!
Layken is a name, not a "made up name". I'm from New Zealand and I've worked in childcare and seen the name layken before.
In a majority of the U.S. Laken (any spelling) is considered a made up name. While I have no idea where OP is from, that name would get more than just side eyes anywhere around where I live.
All that aside I like Laken Grace.

I went to school with a laken deffinatly not made up just not popular. The name i picked if I'm having a girl is made up but its your child your choice.
I think the name is beautiful and so unique! Layken Charlotte would be pretty. I was also curious of the origin, according to this link English/American...hmmm
I personally like the name it is different and pretty much made up but I mean at some point in time all names pretty much were "made up". I also have never heard Blair as a boy name but I could see that. Layken Blair or as a pp said Audra something feminine and "pretty". Also as far as origin of it says American/English for the most part it is made up, I pretty much skipped that list after the first few suggestions I.e. Abcde among many others that just were not what I was looking for in the least
Just because you have seen the name doesn't mean it isn't made up. It is in fact a very recently made up name with a bazillion spellings, Layken/Laiken/Laiyken etc. and no real history of usage as a name. Any website online can list a "name" and hell I could name my child Calculator submit it as a name to 100 different websites online and boom it's a "name" but it doesn't mean it's actually a name with history. SOme people don't care about the history or background of a name but personally I do and don't want to use something trendy and made up for my kid. I prefer a name with some history use behindthename.com for actual background and legitness of a name. I also wouldn't want to use something that has "Lay" as the first part for a girl but that's me.
Thanks for the input! And actually Layken was our girl name 6 years ago when we were choosing but ended up having a boy-- his name is Cade. Layken's original form is male and spelled Lakin, our boy name this time around is set and named after family but the girl names in our families that we would consider don't go with Layken. Our other girl name we've been tossing around is Lydia Elyse, but we just keep going back to Layken. I wanted input vs. Just names we've thought about considering which are:
Layken is unique name- I've never even heard of it until now! I personally like Blair as a first name, but I think Layken Selene, Layken Eliza or Layken Harley would be quite pretty
I LOVE the name Laken! I think it looks better without the y but that's just me. I have a cousin named Laken Paige. And I've always wanted to use Laken Elizabeth.

All this here. Also, it looks very harsh, if that makes sense. I would automatically assume Layken Blair was a boy.
