2nd Trimester

Shooting Range

I work in an all male business and last week (I was exactly 23 weeks) they wanted to go to an indoor shooting range, I went and stayed inside with ear defenders on for About 5 minutes till I thought 'what about the babies ears?' I am REALLY worries, I see my doctor next week and will ask her but I am worried...I cannot find any good research on the web about this.

Re: Shooting Range

  • The baby is fine. There's nothing to worry about

  • You are fine. I used to help my husband when he taught pistol permit classes and my OB was fine with it. I did it up to my third trimesters with my first two kids.

  • My doctor told me being at the range and shooting small caliber is fine during pregnancy. Told me to take it easy with ar, ak, and shot guns
  • Thank you everyone, your experiences/comments have made me feel better!
  • As long as you're not going for hours every day, you're totally good.  I just went to a metal concert Friday night.  I'm 26 weeks with twins.  :)

That being said, the shooting range I was going to go to a couple of weeks ago requires a doctor's note for pregnant women ... and I'm very obviously pregnant.  It was late Friday night when we found that out so I missed out.  Womp womp.

The problem isn't the noise it's the ventilation.  You're fine cause you were in there for 5 minutes but if they  want to visit again stay in the waiting area.  There are chemical such as lead that are coming off the firing range.  Outdoor ranges are fine.
