I love my obgyn...she had the most recent of her 3 kids less than a year ago. When I asked her about it, she said she personally got the flu shot and tdap while pregnant, and also had an epidural with all three births. If she chose it for herself, I feel pretty good about doing the same thing! She's much more qualified to read and interpret the research than I am. :-)
Went to go visit a friend over the weekend with her two-week old. She said she got the shot in her third trimester, and then was told by the pediatrician that the baby would need his own vaccine anyway when it was time in the schedule. So she asked about the immunity passing to the baby and apparently it's not a 100% sure thing. This makes sense of course, but just something I hadn't thought of. I'm not even sure when kids get the vaccine themselves - I think I read 6 months somewhere.... Feeling clueless :-/
