Hello ladies!
I'm new to The Bump. After lurking for a few days, I have to first say thank you--after reading a number of message boards, I am amazed at your openness and willingness to share experience, strength and hope with one another! I teared up reading some of the threads about HPV and colposcopies--I have had mild cervical dysplasia on and off for about 7 years now, and every time I get that phone call from my OB/GYN saying the HPV is back again (happened earlier this week), I cringe and cry. A lot. I had no idea what I go through is so common. For some reason the DX has always made me feel very ashamed of myself, but knowing that so many of you have been able to conceive and carry to term despite having the exact same thing has brought me so much relief.
I know that being a mom is the most important thing I'll ever do, and I can't wait to start my journey. DH (31) and I (27) have been together almost 5 years now, but we just got married in February. My biological clock just recently started screaming at me. I feel possessed! DH is nervous about having a baby and thinks we should at least wait a year, so that may be the timeframe I'm looking at (but I'm hoping he'll be open to a sooner one!). I have been on OCP for 11 years and am planning to stop it after this cycle (switching to condoms). I was planning to get some prenatals and OPKs (thanks for the Amazon tips!) and a thermometer so that I'll know when I'm ovulating, though I'm not sure what else to do...
What have you all done to prepare your bodies for pregnancy 6 months - 1 year out?
Grateful to be part of a new community! Thanks for having me.

Re: new to the community
I am 24 will be 25 next week and DH is 26 almost 27. We have been talking about kids for about a year now. We are going to start trying at he end of the month. For body prep for myself, I really didn't do anything until this last January. I completed the INSANITY workout program and felt amazing. I also started taking a prenatal vitamin. During the insanity program I focused on healthy eating habits. I feel like I now have healthy eating and living habits that are manageable to continue for as far as I can see.
Working out also helped me keep my mind busy and off of babies all the time!

I second the notion of personal wellness: exercise, healthy eating habits, etc. Whatever that means for you, go for it! I'm about 4 months out from actively TTC, but I'm doing cardio, core, and yoga daily, trying to get back to a more healthy weight. DH and I have fun experimenting with new low carb low fat recipes. Like the PP, I agree that the best time to start those healthy habits is definitely before the baby comes. Also, it might not hurt to talk to your doctor about starting a prenatal, charting, and getting off BC. Even if you're a year out, the sooner you can start charting your ovulation, the sooner you will know how your body is working. Always good!
