Flat feet (cross-posted)

So I am wondering about the topic of flat feet. the reason why is because my mom keeps telling me that my almost 3yr old needs to have insoles made for his shoes so that the arch of his foot can be properly formed so that he wont grow up with the problems associated with a flat foot 'condition'.. I've never really heard about this (except from her) of how doctors are supposed to suggest this to all parents. I personally feel its an old form of parenting and just think that the body will develop as its supposed to naturally. but still it makes me wonder is this something other parents are doing??
