@emmasemm and @adirat They aren't closed for the holidays, but they won't start a new IVF cycle in december, so for IVF they are effectively closed. For my next cycle they were gonna do 10 days of BC prior to starting, so if I start BCP tomorrow, 10 days would put me on the 27th, so maybe they will do it? Maybe? Or they will just keep me on BC a bit longer, but my doctor was nervous about over suppressing me, so I dunno.

AFM, my AMH results were automatically released on my patient portal last night but I won’t hear from the doctor about them until tomorrow. My level is 0.4, well below the normal range. So I’m trying (mostly unsuccessfully) not to panic too much until we hear what the doctor thinks...it’s just really hard to feel like low AMH combined with DH’s poor SA results is going to leave us with many promising options. Sigh.
@kiwi2628 they should be able to extend BCPs a few more days, nbd. They use them for that purpose alone - managing treatment cycle timing - allll the time. Try not to stress! (((Hugs)))
@SkilledSailor, the nurse practitioner has been really prompt about responding to my other test results as they’ve come in, so I assume I’ll hear something from the RE’s office tomorrow. I have an ultrasound scheduled for Tuesday, so they may want to wait till that’s done to make any definite recommendations, though...
@kiwi2628 Yes, @BusinessWife has a good point about the BCP. Heck, they had me on them for almost a month and a half to "keep my ovaries quiet" until it was time for my FET. (It was a similar process before my ER.) @Augusta108 I'm so sorry the results were not what you were hoping to see. I hope your doctor will be able to give you options, even with low levels.

She had her ER, maybe three eggs, two mature, both transferred by fresh 3dt, and now she's due in February with a beautiful baby boy! @BusinessWife, thank you so much, that is encouraging to hear! I’m trying to find a balance between getting myself ready in case the RE’s take is really bad and trying to stay positive for as long as I can, so fodder for hope is very welcome.
@augusta108 oh no, that’s not the sort of info you want to get, especially not online and then have to wait for the consult, I’m sorry.
My AMH is 0.65 but my AFC has only been 2-5 for the last six months. The two together can give a close estimation for how you might respond to injectibles. So I also guess they want to put your AMH together with your AFC on the US before they discuss treatment options.
Please just remember low AMH normally doesn’t mean it’s impossibleto get KU - it just means the “magic” of IVF where you can get 20 months worth of follicles in one month (and thus find a good quality egg quickly) might be dampened down so you retrieve less eggs. If you happen to “get a good one” in the first cycle you can absolutely have the situation @businesswife describes.
What I would say is make sure you feel your RE is motivated to work with you - some are more interested in the patients who respond better (helps their statistics) but some love the challenge of finding the right protocol for us trickier characters! And for many DOR ladies the protocol can mean the difference between no and many blasts. Also some REs are keen to pursue IUIs if IVF isn’t for you from a money/personal choice aspect. How your DHs SA factors in will of course be important too.
If you haven’t seen it before, there is a Low AMH thread on the IF board. It has success stories, protocol descriptions, lots of support for members (we’re a small group at any time) but also of course some tougher moments. You would get a warm welcome.

And that your RE was already nervous about over-suppressing you at least means you can have that conversation openly. Fx it works out.
FWIW the earliest day my RE will accept my CD1 is 27th Dec, so then first monitoring would be 2nd Jan (after 5 nights of stims).

@Augusta108 Sorry to hear you got such bad news It's really hard to hear and have to reconsider your plans. I second the low amh thread on the IF board, and if you haven't already, check out It Starts with the Egg. I had some luck raising my low AMH a bit with those changes, and ended up with a "normal" number of eggs through IVF despite my low AMH for my age. Good luck!

AFM, my AMH results were automatically released on my patient portal last night but I won’t hear from the doctor about them until tomorrow. My level is 0.4, well below the normal range. So I’m trying (mostly unsuccessfully) not to panic too much until we hear what the doctor thinks...it’s just really hard to feel like low AMH combined with DH’s poor SA results is going to leave us with many promising options. Sigh.
@Augusta108 I'm so sorry the results were not what you were hoping to see. I hope your doctor will be able to give you options, even with low levels.

@Augusta108 I’m so sorry about those results. Hopefully your RE will call with a good plan in place.
My AMH is 0.65 but my AFC has only been 2-5 for the last six months. The two together can give a close estimation for how you might respond to injectibles.
So I also guess they want to put your AMH together with your AFC on the US before they discuss treatment options.
Please just remember low AMH normally doesn’t mean it’s impossibleto get KU - it just means the “magic” of IVF where you can get 20 months worth of follicles in one month (and thus find a good quality egg quickly) might be dampened down so you retrieve less eggs. If you happen to “get a good one” in the first cycle you can absolutely have the situation @businesswife describes.
What I would say is make sure you feel your RE is motivated to work with you - some are more interested in the patients who respond better (helps their statistics) but some love the challenge of finding the right protocol for us trickier characters! And for many DOR ladies the protocol can mean the difference between no and many blasts.
Also some REs are keen to pursue IUIs if IVF isn’t for you from a money/personal choice aspect.
How your DHs SA factors in will of course be important too.
If you haven’t seen it before, there is a Low AMH thread on the IF board. It has success stories, protocol descriptions, lots of support for members (we’re a small group at any time) but also of course some tougher moments. You would get a warm welcome.
