Gender Guesses?

So went at 14 weeks for ultrasound and nurse said it was a boy but when I went to my docs she said it's impossible to tell gender that boys and girls look alike at that point. Now going on 15 weeks I just want everyone's opinions. We want a girl but will be happy either way, I'll attach a pic of ultrasound and just want opinions. Most say boy but people keep telling me girls look like that too and get mistaken for boys all the time at that early in the game!

Gender is determined by your baby when he/she is old enough to understand identity. The sex (determined by reproductive organs) can be seen during pregnancy, but definitely not from the view you're showing us and probably not for a few more weeks anyway. Good luck with your pregnancy!

That view shows us nothing. I don't know how to decipher ultrasound pictures. I would suggest waiting until your anatomy scan, it's only a few weeks away.

Everyone has covered the important points: that's a profile view, it's too early, we're internet strangers not ultrasound techs. You will likely get a very reliable opinion in 5 weeks, so be patient.

So I posted that pic because that's what the nurse gave me and said she could decipher it was a boy from that angle because of the pointed part u can clearly see from in the picture. I wasn't asking like for sure answers just fun guesses and what I got was complete opposite. /:

So here it is, none of us are trained medical professionals and can't even begin to give you an intelligent guess as to what you are having, other than you have a 50/50 shot eitherway.

-Espeically with a profile shot, we REALLY can't tell.

-You're only 14/15 weeks. As others have said, the sex is basically indistinguishable from one or the other at this time.

-These boards are notorious for users not liking others posting u/s pics of their babies for "others to guess". It's not like we have a lot to choose from. It's a boy or a girl. Congrats.

If you're new as you pointed out, lurk around a bit. Use the search bar and get to know the community and read the fixed "read before posting" threads before you get to posting. You may find some useful info there.

I am no u/s tech but out of sheer curiosity I don't understand the pointed part you are talking about . Are your referring to what appears to be an arm and leg because I can assure you it's not a penis. U/S tech or not.

I'm sorry you didn't get the answers you were looking for. Unfortunately people here don't necessarily find this type of guessing game fun. Idk what pointy part you are referring to but I highly doubt it's the genitalia.

Your nurse was likely referring to nub theory. And based on the nub theory, yes, it looks like a boy. Go to www.ingender.com and post your pic there. There are lots of people who are familiar with nub theory and like to analyze profile shots.

Meh, I found out the sex of both of my kids via elective ultrasound at 14 weeks.

However, this isn't a good view at all. I really only see a profile here.

Also, OP, no one has mentioned this yet, but by posting that picture you are relinquishing rights to it and basically giving it to the Bump. Meaning they can do whatever they want with it. With all kindness, I suggest you not post a picture of sex organs, if you have one, as once you do that picture will ALSO be owned by TB, and then you have posted a picture of your babies junk on the interwebz and it will *never be gone*. Think about that. How would you feel if your mom put a picture of your privates on the web for all to see?

My goodness some people are just plain mean! Why even comment if you're just going to be rude?! I see what you're looking at and I would guess a boy because of the angle of the nub, but obviously you can see everything more clearly if you get a potty shot. I had a private ultrasound at 14wks and they told me girl, then I had it confirmed at 18wks. My doctor also told me it's impossible to tell that early, but it's definitely possible with new technology!

It's not really about technology, though, it's about how early the genitalia develops. The best u/s technology in the world can't show you the sex if the genitalia hasn't developed. Your elective had a 50% chance of being right either way.

Don't even listen to these children posting negative and mean comments. It's disgusting how some "women" behave. Some people are just mean spirited and the internet is the perfectly place for them to lash out. If you want to have fun guesses at this sort of thing there are many groups on other baby specifically for this soft of thing. I would post the links but I'm not sure if I can. They should be easy to find and good luck! Sorry I can't help.

My sex is female. However, I feel no physical/sexual attraction to male OR female. I could care less one bit about sex. This makes me asexual. I love my husband, but alas, he also identifies the same way!

Asexual is a gender identity. It's not my sex.

But hey, guess there's something wrong with me. That's news to me! I've been living happily. Feels strange to learn there must be some sort of mental disorder afflicting me.


To the OP, I can't read the ultrasound. I'm not good at it lol but hoping to hear baby is healthy, that's what matters most

I found out at 14 weeks that I was having a boy. You can tell the gender at 14 weeks. I saw everything, it was obvious.
