5 lb 2 oz, 17.5 inches born at 7:49 pm via csection after after no progress for 11 hours. 34 weeks. pictures to come shortly. Boy came out mad and crying actually! Love him!!!!!
Caden Rhodes was born on Thursday 4/23/15 at 11:18am. 3lbs 12oz at 32weeks 6 days.
My pregnancy/ birth story:
When I was 23 weeks I went through PTL and had an emergency Cerclage due to an insufficient cervix. I was put on modified bed rest and had weekly progesterone shots. At 32 weeks I went into L&D for cramping and bleeding. The Drs removed my cerclage and it was a matter of waiting. Labor stopped for a bit when I was dilated at 5cm 100% effaced and the baby was stationed at -1. Then a few days later, I experienced heavy bleeding and severe cramping. I planned for a VBAC but ended up with an emergency c-section since the baby's heart rate dropped. Turns out I had a placental abruption.
Even though this pregnancy and birth wasn't ideal, I am so grateful to have a happy and thriving baby. This journey has taught me a lot about flexibility and patience. It's been a long difficult road but at the end of it, I got to experience a great love for a second time. I'm not really a religious person but I firmly believe that God (or the creator or the universe) only gives you what you can handle. In the meantime, Caden is in the NICU and I am savoring every little moment I can with him.
I posted photos and her birth story in a separate post entitled Star Wars baby. May the fourth be with you!
Thank you to everyone for all the well wishes!!!!
