Good morning!
I am 26 wks pregnant with my first. I have had this app/ site since 4 wks but just decided to post here in the community.
As I was reading other post in hopes to find some answers to similar issues, I realized how rude and offensive some of these mothers are to others.
I must say that it's disappointing how some of you treat others who comment on a question you have asked and just because the person made a comment, you jump their case for not reading other threads. Maybe refer to said thread?
Anyways, off my soap box...
was just tired of seeing some newbies get ripped a new one.
Re: New to community (not new to The Bump)
Keep in mind that I'm currently sitting thru my 3 hour glucose test so I'm very hungry, high on sugar, and hormonally pregnant to boot so don't think I'm coming right out swinging with that statement, but... I'm, well, I just don't know what to say. Hi. I guess. And you got some ugly shoes on.
Edited, spelling
@mellymar I hope your tests goes okay and that you get something good to eat after!
Edited because I posted too soon....
Also there's totes a newbie thread for this exact thing.
Used in a sentence(s):
"Oh snap, my dramatitis is really acting up today! I should get on the Bump and try and make people feel like asshats before it clears up."
I do not normally comment on such posts because I think it just encourages the poster, but this is just absurd. We are all either in, or close to being in, our third trimester. Lurking on the bump as long as you have without starting a thread, why in the world would you post something to offend the people who you've been getting advice from for this long? Maybe just saying hi would've been a better opening? Irritating. You just insulted most people on this board, so yes I'll be a little insulting back.
OP - wait, seriously? So you've been lurking since you were 4 weeks along and you decide to make your very first post about bashing the people who actually contribute to this board? How exactly did you see this going - did you think everyone would be like "yeah man, there are totes some rude ladies here, thanks for pointing it out"? Do you have any self awareness at all? I mean, YOUR post was the rudest one I've seen in weeks.
Feel free to take your soapbox and slink back into lurker mode because I, for one, will not be responding to a SINGLE question/concern you post here after this DramaLlama demonstration.
1. The culture of the board really has changed since bumPgate, and I hope you noticed as I had. I don't mind that the first posts to oft repeated questions are now links and referrals to previous good information and suggestions about labeling correctly or posting to established threads. not "omg this b*tch" , or "who does she think she is". Which is actually what it used to be.
2. I don't think referring moms to recent posts where topics are extensively debated is a bad thing. I think some newbies immediately go on the defensive when they see this. But if you've been around im sure you've noticed the same banal topics come up as nauseum.
3. Generally no...being nasty for the sake of being nasty is not something I like to see other women do either. I try to keep a "don't be an asshole policy". I will never call someone a special snowflake or any of that. But when someone is offended you tell them to ask their doctor as in they say "omg duh I'll ask my doctor you are so mean" I get annoyed. Literally for many of those questions that is the ONLY correct response.
4. Many women who get super flamed do so because they go on the defensive and resort to name calling themselves when responders say "this is just silly" and it NEVER works out. Usually the flaming gets worse. I did this once and learned my lesson.
So um...welcome? I promise not to side eye you...but maybe give a shot to you know ordering a drink at the bar instead of kicking in the saloon doors with guns blazing.
To the OP welcome! You've just been baptized by fire. Not the way I would have chosen to introduce myself, but something tells me you like to do things a little differently. You wear that crown proudly drama mama!
