LO holding own bottle? — The Bump

LO holding own bottle?

Does your 6-7 mos. old hold own bottle? My DD puts her hands on it but dosent seem to try to hold it unless I let go for a minute and she does work to get it. No rush at all but just curious if others at this age are holding it for the most part.

Re: LO holding own bottle?

  • Other babies aren't your baby. This answer is so variable. Mine held their own sippies at 9 months, but no real interest before then.

  • Mine is 8 months (6 months adjusted) and he does not hold his bottle. He grabs for it or rests his hand on it but doesn't actually hold it.

  • 6 months and no..my DD never held her bottle never tried
  • My LO will hold it for a couple minutes if I place his hands and let go -- if he's really hungry.  After he's had a bit, he will not hold it.  I think he has to feel motivated to make the effort.  I don't mind -- I'm savoring our eating/cuddle times.  ;)

  • My LO won't hold his own bottle unless I place his hands there myself. He's 7 months old (6 months adjusted) and has no interest yet.

  • My LO is 4 months old but I have friends with older babies and it is normal that baby is not holding a bottle at the age of 7 months.
  • My baby is almost 8 months old and although he is perfectly able to hold his bottle, he has no interest in it.  Unless he is absolutely starving, he seems to prefer that I hold it for him.  Fine by me because I wasn't able to breastfeed for very long, so I feel that it's our way of bonding :-)  Interestingly - he does hold a sippy cup.  Probably because I never held that for him, so he just grabs it whenever he wants it.
  • Our LO is almost 7 mths and he has been holding his bottle for a while now. I only let him do it if he "offers." Most of the time he's happy just sitting back and letting Mom or Dad do the work, lol. :) (Can't say I blame him...)

  • My LO is almost 7 months and he holds his own bottle now. I generally hold him during his feelings for the extra snuggle time but he just takes the bottle and plops his head back.
