who gives in?!

For DD name I thought of it and DH liked it but it wasn't his ultimate fav but he ended up choosing it.. This time we are having a boy and CANNOT agree on a name... So one of us has to "give" in to the others choice. Who should?? I really don't want to but feel like it's the "right" thing to do... He's already offered to let me have a name I like but I am feeling bad about it, even tho he does like it... Help! (His favs are Micah, Caiden and Lucas... Mine are Dominic, Roman and Reid, if it helps any)
ps. None of these names are disliked by the other, just not the number one choice. "Give in" might not have been the best choice of words but who gets their "pick"

Re: who gives in?!

  • Why can't you do a FN of his choice & MN your choice or vise versa?

    Lucas Reid or Reid Lucas
  • Personally I would try to find a name you both actually like vs someone "giving in". It sounds like you got your way the first time and now don't want to consider him having a bigger say this time which is why I think it makes it almost "dangerous" to do the whole one person gives in thing. Someone will always hold a slight upset feeling whether they say it or not. Honestly it doesn't look like you have that different of styles. Have you tried nymbler.com to see if you can find a common ground

  • Maybe "giving in" wasn't the right word... DH liked DD name, it just wasn't his ultimate number one choice. I think we both are ok with any of the names listed but have different opinions on what ones are our favorites. They are all names we both like but who gets their choice... No one dislikes any of the names tho. We have searched and searched all aspects and I'm due tomorrow so time is about up.
Also, middle name will be a family name...
  • The other thing I was going to say, my best friend & her husband couldn't agree on a name so they took a list of their favorites to the hospital &waited until they saw baby before picking the name. Even though her DH wasn't in board with her top pick before hand, he agreed that baby fit the name perfectly.

  • Well then I guess if you are both ok with all six names then "technically" he should get the final vote if that's what it came down to the first time and you got final say.

Still not something I would do but if it worked for you guys the first time it seems only fair he gets final this time.

I don't think anyone gives in, keep looking for something you both love.
  • My parents did a coin toss in the hospital room. Although I think if he went with your top pick before you should be open to his. And if you can't get comfortable using one of his favourite names then maybe come up with a whole new list.
  • I would keep looking

This was how we came up with one of our twins names..there was one name my husband liked and one name I liked and we ended up putting them together for a first and middle. If you can't agree on something like that I would keep looking til you're both really happy..easier said than done I know :)

  • Go to the hospital with all the names. After you go through labor, he will happily let you name the baby whatever you want.
  • Your names are WAAAAAY better than his!
  • I agree with previous suggestions to take all names to the hospital and try to use one name from each list, if you can. Honestly I like your name choices better than his... but here are a few combinations that could work.

    Dominic Caiden
    Micah Roman
    Lucas Reid

    Roman Lucas
    Caiden Reid
    Micah Dominic
