February 2015 Moms

How are y'all doing spam?

Since most of us have happily greeted our now outside babies and the earliest are approaching the end of their postpartum stage, I wanted to ask how everyone is faring.

How go the recoveries? The LOs? The doctor appointments? Whatever?

I'm officially 6 weeks, had my final appointment, and am back at work. LO is growing like a weed, threatening a growth spurt, and generally super amiable.

Re: How are y'all doing spam?

  • Tomorrow DD is on her 7th outside day! This week has both gone by super slow and incredably fast. She is generally doing very well but hates to be on the changing table for more than a minute. She was almost back to her birth weight at 3 days pp so I'm confident she has continued to grow. We are seeing the MW on tuesday for our first pp appt.

As for me, I lost a lot of blood during delivery, but my iron levels are now slowly recovering and I feel a little better every day.

  • I'm 4 weeks postpartum. Things are going well. I'm still bleeding and not yet 100%. I have to remember to make my 6 week appointment this week. I can't wait to feel normal again. And I can't wait to get back to running! I got a treadmill as my push present and I am dying to use it.
Our little guy is good. He's starting to fill out and he's getting a little chubby.
I am breastfeeding and struggling with oversupply I think. I just want my supply to level out, they say it does after a while. I'm just always so engorged and sore. Baby will drink like 2 oz a feeding, always only 1 boob and then I can pump like 6 oz from that same boob an hour later. Why do I have so much? I don't understand it haha

  • Almost 5 weeks postpartum and I'm doing pretty good :) being cooped up was getting to me so me and DD had a nice outing today and I got a super cute hair cut :D I'm actually thinner now than I was before the baby (thanks to walking and breastfeeding) I'm loving the mom life

I would think you have so much because you pump after. Do you pump every feeding?
  • My babe will be a month old on Monday. Can't believe it! I think I'm putting my foot down and saying no visitors this week. My mom and MIL are both local and have been here A LOT. I appreciate the help but I'm tired of someone always being around. Hoping to take some little shopping trips with the baby this week for my sanity. I need to leave the house!

LO had his tongue tie clipped on Wednesday and he was able to breastfeed for the first time since he was 3 days old!! I am still bottle feeding him because I am stuggling with oversupply and forceful let down, but thankfully Dr. Google has helped me with some tips until I am able to see the LC this week. We are 7 weeks pp today and slowly starting to feel normal.
ETA: we just survived the 6 weeks growth spurt and sleep regression.

  • @tropicbreeze That is awesome news! Hopefully your supply will even out soon, I'm struggling with that as well.
  • I'm starting to feel better physically 7 weeks out. Got my hair cut and colored yesterday! Being home with a 3 yr old and 7 weeker is getting redundant with this weather. I have everything to be happy about but feel so blah. Think I have some ppd, but if I go on meds I'll have to stop breastfeeding. I'm just very hard on myself and wish I felt better mentally.
  • @excitedbride11 please don't take this the wrong way, but go see your obgyn. PPD is NOTHING to put on the back burner. It does not get better on its own. discuss with your OB about medications because some are actually ok to use while breastfeeding. Any OB would most likely tell you to take the meds and continue BF or to take the meds and FF if you aren't comfortable. But seriously at 7 week PP you shouldn't be having "baby blues" anymore and if you are still feeling that way, it's PPD. Please get seen as soon as you can because it only gets worse.
  • @tropicbreeze awesome!! Glad to hear his tongue tie got fixed! Hopefully the LC helps you out asap! :)
  • I'll be 3 weeks PP on St. Patrick's Day and so far I'm still bleeding. And I'm also still sore from the emergency cesarean. But our little girl is growing growing growing. She is such a good baby! I can't believe I've gotten this lucky so far. Since we've been home, she's only had 1, ONE! fussy night where we only slept maybe 4 hours total. Other than that, she's learning the difference between night and day rather quickly, and she's eating like crazy. I go back and forth from having an oversupply and an undersupply of milk for her, it's maddening; so I am trying to do extra pumps on days that I know I have an oversupply so we have a stock pile for days where I don't produce enough for her. She's already feeding through a bottle with her daddy and doesn't seem to have nipple confusion either, which is allowing me to continue to breastfeed. She was even well past her BW within a week of her delivery. She is already showing that she can hold her head up on her own for short periods of time that are getting longer and longer! I am such a lucky mommy to have such a strong and wonderful baby for my first!
