What's Everyone's Professions???

I'm a Stay at home mom as well as a part time chef, when work comes in I do private events for clients or private dinners. I'm also currently writing a cookbook about traveling around the world to 15 countries with my DD who is 3 and my husband and its filled with recipes from around the world that are simple yet unique for families to share. Another question being is how terrible thisn morning/ all day sickness has been and how do you handle it while working?? I'd love to hear from other mommies!

Cheers xoxo

Re: What's Everyone's Professions???

  • I'm a 2nd grade teacher. Nausea has really only hit me when I'm hungry but it sure makes teaching tough around lunch time and the end of the day! Thankfully I haven't gotten sick yet just the upset tummy. And today (Im 10w4d) I am feeling like may have more energy. Still have slight nausea but I actually was able to cook dinner tonight which is a plus!

  • I am a cake decorator . I work full time the nausea isn't too bad I am 10 weeks 3days. It comes and goes from day to day and my stomach only get really upset if I smell something that is at work aka fried chicken. lol
  • I'm an lpn and work in a pediatrics office! Makes things interesting ;)
  • I'm an event coordinator at a law firm. Its a fun, rewarding job job but I plan on making a career change after the little peanut arrives.  I want something that allows me to spend as much time with him/her as possible so I'm currently researching my options. We live in what we call a "sleeper" town outside of a city in Canada. I guess its basically a suburb, so everyone who lives there works in the city. There aren't a lot of options for child care in the town so I'm really interested in getting involved with something like that. Wouldn't mind having a job where I could take my LO along with me. :)

I've never heard of a sleeper town. Now I know!!! Good for you for wanting To make a career change.
  • I build buses navistar international!
  • I work as an epidemiologist for the DOH. I'm a nurse as well and do my county's FIMR project case abstractions. So I look at all of the infant and fetal deaths in my county. Which makes this pregnancy feel all the more precious (and terrifying).

  • I work in retail at a major cell phone company as well as go to school full time. The hormones are not boding well for those mean customers that come in :-/. Solving people's problems and entertaining them for a couple hours at a time while doing it also gets my nausea going. I like my job.. looking forward to completing school and getting into the field I like! whoo!

Admitting at an outpatient surgery center & having to deal with NPO patients at times can be rough since they can be grouchy and with my hormones it's not a good match! I wish I could be a stay at home mom Once LO gets here though! I'm looking forward to that maternity leave!

  • I am an interior designer for a large design firm and Arizona. We mainly work on new construction. I work full time (plus some), usually at least 50 hours a week if not more. I'm hoping to slow down my schedule more throughout this pregnancy
  • I am a stay at home mom but I also work for Matilda Jane (little girls and womens clothing company!)
  • Labor and delivery nurse here ! Nausea came in full force around 6 weeks and left suddenly at 9 weeks, which I am so happy about! I feel great now. It's very difficult to be mindful of what I'm doing with my body at work bc laboring mom's are very strong and it can be incredibly physical work to help them deliver ! Kicking, screaming, pushing, pulling, turning...really takes a toll!
  • Nurse and mom to two boys
  • I'm a paediatric occupational therapist. I have yet to find a "solution" for this nausea and fatigue! Having a supportive boss helps. And never stop eating, despite not wanting to eat anything lol.
  • After a while KLopez33 u get turned off sweets! I enjoy boxed cake more!!! Lol
  • I teach 1.5 year Olds all day!
  • I am a RN at a pediatric hospital:) it can be a stressful job but I love what I do!!
  • I'm a wildlife biologist, but mostly do policy work so I'm at a desk all day. I deal with nausea by getting up to walk around when I can, but honestly being so tired is more of a problem for me!
  • Labor and delivery nurse. I love my job but night shifts have been tough to recover from.
  • I'm a full time receptionist at a printing company. I also have my own cake business on the side. Morning sickness is terrible! I have had to miss work twice. There's a bathroom not far away from my desk if I need to run, they also let me eat as needed at my desk. But I haven't been able to keep most things down so it's hard to eat at all. My bosses check on me throughout the day to make sure I am alright. It's a great environment but I still would rather stay home and sleep then go in to work.

  • A lot of nurses on here!! I'm a cardiac icu nurse. So stressful at times and 12 hour shifts can be exhausting! Luckily no nausea
  • I'm a medical laboratory scientist or lab tech :). I'm also currently in nursing school. I'll have my BSN in August.
  • We have a lot of nurses in the group!! I'm a physical therapist mainly doing outpatient adult neuro rehab which can be super physical. I'm also department manager so I only treat about 50% of the time and the rest is admin duties. It's a good balance for pregnancy fatigue. Mamas in healthcare, take a student towards the end of your pregnancy! I did with my first and it was great! She did most of the physical work while I supervised from a rolling stool
