I think it could work for a boy even though it's trending as a feminine name now. I do like Ryan for a girl's name, for example. However, you do need to think about him going into school and having female classmates with the same name. Just something to consider but if you love it, go for it!
It is originally masculine. Although I do agree, I'm seeing it being chose more as a girl name right now, ultimately it can go both ways. To me personally it sounds feminine. That's what I'm naming my daughter.
I think boy first since its originally a masculine name but I know it's becoming a more popular girls name. My daughters name is Aubrey which is originally masculine as well but 7yrs ago it was becoming more of a girls name. Now there are a lot of girls names Aubrey. Something to consider I guess.
I like it for a boy, but I agree that it might be hard for him in school if he shares his name with girls. It's becoming very popular, it was on our girl list but got cut because of that.
I think it can go either way. To me it depends on the name you pair it with. I like more masculine names for girls so we choose Avery-Leigh as a middle name if we have a girl. But if you pair it with another masculine name I see no problem when he enters school
For some reason this question sparked my interest so I dug further and found out that in 2010, the raitio was 1 boy for every 5 girls were named Avery. Personally, I think it has a feminine sound.. but it is technically a unisex name. I actually wish we didn't live in this gender biased society, but we do
