Another Daycare Mom ?

Okay, for those of you who have a DC(s) in daycare...did they ever cry to STAY?  DD has been out for the past two weeks due to sickness and the holiday's and just went back yesterday.  Well, when I went to pick her up she cried.  She didn't want to come to me she wanted to stay with her favorite teacher.  She used to be so excited to see me when I got there.  It really hurt my feelings and I just wanted to see if anyone else had experienced this.  She has done this once before, but yesterday she CRIED with real tears!  Makes me feel like a bad mom!

  • Yes well sorta. He fusses instead of cries. Yesterday he didn't want to leave since he's been out for 11 days, but we needed to go home! LOL

  • There are days that DD doesn't want to leave because she's having fun and doesn't want to stop playing.  It is worse in the summer when they are out on the playground during pick-up.  It can be hard to tear her away from the slide and the sandbox.

You're not a bad mom.  It means you've found a good daycare!

  • Oh Lord yes!  If they are playing outside, I know it is going to be tough to get him to want to leave.  I was hurt the first few times, especially since he cries to stay with DH when he gets dropped off. Now I just try to lure him away with my car keys.  I tell him that he gets to drive so he will take the keys and walk out with me.  Works every time!

Don't feel bad.  You found great daycare and that can be priceless!

  • Agreed- sounds like you found a great place :) It can be ouch to tear DD away, especially if she's playing on the climber. I don't mind too much b/c it means she's having fun there.

  • Not yet, but my DD is younger than yours. Usually when H picks her up she is napping. Its a good sign if she is begging to stay :)
  • We haven't had that problem.  DD is usually picked up when there are only a few kids left anyway, so I can't say that there is anything to tear her away.
