Flying Southwest Airlines with Britax B-Safe Seat

Southwest's website states that seats wider than 16" across may not fit - the base of The B-Safe is under 16" but where the handle connects it's wider than 16". Has anyone flown SWA with their child in this car seat and can verify if it fits or not?

FWIW: I'm flying coast to coast so lap sitting will not be happening... at least not for the entire trip. This kid is getting her own seat.

  • Don't install the base on the plane.  Store it in the overhead compartment.  Install the seat using the seat belt method.

  • I meant the base of the car seat itself, not the base it clicks into.

  • I'm assuming you will occupy the seat next to the seat that the car seat will occupy. You can always put up the arm rest.

  • Ohhhhh.  Yeah like PP said, just put the arm rest up on your seat.  Baby will be in the window seat most likely.

  • The car seat must be in the window seat. Car seats cannot block another person's ability to exit the row. We have flown SWA several times (ways with a convertible seat) and never had any issues. Your car seat must have a FAA approved message on the side of it though. So be sure it does before you fly.
