names that are similar to Jocelyn

I want to use Jocelyn as a middle name but i feel that its a little too much with the first name that we have picked out (Felicity) i just cant think of names that have a similar sound or feel of Jocelyn or even names that aren't usually a middle name. We are/ were thinking of using violet as a middle name its just not set in stone type of thing. Any help is appreciated.

  • Felicity Jolene is the first think that popped in my head because Jolene has a similar feel to Jocelyn, but it isn't so much of a mouthful.
  • I think Felicity Jocelyn sounds fine. Two lovely names, why change it? You may be over thinking this, but if you want a couple alternatives why not adjust the name Jocelyn to Joyce or Joy?

    Felicity Joyce or Felicity Joy

They all sound fine to me, but I'd keep Felicity Jocelyn and go with your gut. It's beautiful.

  • So we decided to not go with Jocelyn since our daughter's middle name is Raelyn and that just seems too machy so Felicity's middle name is probably going to be Gene after her grandfather Eugene so there are family names for both of our girls. Thank you for all yhe great name ideas that got us to this point.

Gene is a masculine spelling... would you consider Jean (a feminine spelling) instead?

I realize Gene is a short form of Eugene, which is why there is no feminine version. But Jean is pronounced the same way and is a feminine spelling, a variant of Jane.

Felicity Gene, looks strange to me

Felicity Jean, looks proper and feminine

  • I asked my husband if we were hoing to use Jean and he said no i guess its pretty common in his family to use Gene as a middle name for girls on his dad's side of the family since its a family name or something i would like to use Jean though so i might push it closer to the end of the pregnancy.

I would point out to him that your other daughter has a feminine spelling for her middle name, so you would prefer to use the feminine spelling for your second daughter as well. I would even write them both out next to your other daughter's name and show him what it will look like on her diplomas, driver license, wedding invitations, etc.

    Felicity Jean is lovely.

I will have to try that with him and hope it works he is kinda stubborn.
  • I went to school with a girl named Eugena (might have been Eugenia).I would use that over the masculine Gene! Or Gina!

I was going to say, my name is jasmine and it always gets misheard as Jocelyn!
