Bleeding and Visit to L&D ****Update****

Last night, out of nowhere, I had bright red bleeding and passed a clot.  I absolutely panicked - especially in light of my prior loss.  OB sent me to L&D to be checked out.  By the time I arrived the bleeding had slowed.  They heard both heartbeats but honestly I am still scared.  I asked for an ultrasound because I want to know the source of the bleeding.  (My prior ultrasounds showed no potential problems with SCH or placenta)  They called my OB from the hospital who said to come in Monday for an ultrasound since L&D did not have as good an ultrasound as I will get with the MFM to try to identify the source of the bleeding.

So I am at home 'resting' for the weekend.  And completely stressed in the meantime worrying.  There is still light bleeding (brownish) which they told me to expect. 

This pregnancy has been an emotional roller coaster starting with the OHSS (link to prior post if you are interested https://forums.thebump.com/discussion/12489604/bfp-with-a-side-of-ohss#latest).  I am trying to be positive - really I am - but I could really use some T & P until I go in on Monday.  TIA

******UPDATE********

We went to MFM today for an ultrasound.  The twins are both doing well - still happy and growing strong.  They could not find an obvious source of the bleeding.  Cervix looked good on u/s.  So no real answers, but at least we saw the babies moving around in there today.  I am hoping there are no more episodes of bleeding.  I have to wait to hear back from my OB regarding restrictions, if any.  The MFM doctor wants to take a closer look at the placentas at the next appointment in one month, but it's just a waiting game until then.

I'm sorry, I know it's scary. Have the doctor do a vaginal exam while you are there Monday if one hasn't been in a while. I had many episodes of bleeding which were thought to be from an SCH and then low placenta through 15 weeks. At 20 weeks I had another bleed and went to the hospital, they did an internal while I was still bleeding and was able to confirm it was coming from a cervical polyp. They had found the polyp at 14 weeks (first time they looked inside) but when they looked I wasn't actively bleeding. I had mild ohss and the polyp developed at some point after my transfer, probably a side effect of high estrogen levels. I'm pretty sure it's been the polyp causing the bleeding all along. Just another reason you could be bleeding that's easy to rule out if you don't have one!

Sending T&Ps!  Glad the bleeding has slowed and is brownish and you saw two great HBs.  Hopefully you get more good news Monday or at least get some peace of mind by idenitying the source.

Thanks for the support everyone.  @bears1011 - at L&D they suspected that the bleeding was coming from irritation to my cervix - so I am definitely going to ask about this on Monday.  As an aside - nothing has ventured in there - ahem - as DH would tell you - so I have no idea why I would have an irritated cervix.

Are you on progesterone supplements? They can cause cervical irritation. Plus in pregnancy your cervix can become more friable in general because of increased blood flow. Definitely worth a quick look to make sure all looks normal!

Do you work out? I had 2 bleeding episodes a few weeks back- they couldn't find the source the 1st time, but they found it the 2nd time. Due to being more "vascular", I bled (enough to freak me OUT) because of a small cervical tear. NP thinks it's because of overdoing it at bootcamp. I was on pelvic rest and limited activity for 2 wks, and it didn't happen again-- knock on wood.

I'm glad the bleeding slowed and there were two good heartbeats. Hoping everything looks great today on the u/s and they're able to figure out a cause the bleeding. FX for you!

Glad the u/s went well!  At least they'll keep a close eye on you to make sure everything goes smoothly the rest of the pregnancy.
