My feelings? Shocked and nervous.
For anyone going through / planning to do IVF, I wanted to share my story about OHSS.
I was feeling pretty awful late last week, and my abdomen was swelling up terrible. I could not (and still cannot) sleep flat in my bed and any bending causes serious discomfort. None of my work clothes fit - even my 'fat' pants. I called the RE on Saturday and he said not to worry, drink Gatorade, etc since I was due in to his office on Monday. Basically if I was not vomiting / unable to keep down liquids they were not too concerned. I did however convince him to schedule me for an ultrasound Monday as well to see what in the world is going on with my ovaries.
Sunday I woke up and I had gained 3 pounds in 24 hours. I panicked just a little, and decided to just go to the hospital because all I could think about was OHSS and all the possible complications. I told the hospital staff about my procedures and my concern about OHSS. The nurse actually had the nerve to say 'are you sure your stomach isn't always like this?' I was there for over 5 hours and the only things they did were take a urine sample, bloodwork, and do a chest x-ray. My urine was negative for pregnancy. Kidney function looked good via bloodwork, no fluid in my lungs on chest x-ray. They did not even consider an ultrasound. They patted me on the head (like the Grinch does to Cindy Loo Who) and sent me home with a diagnosis of "edema".
This morning I went to the RE's office, and told them about my emergency room adventure. I had already given up hope at this point, but was glad they would be doing an ultrasound so I would know what was wrong with me and perhaps I would leave with a plan to treat things. The ultrasound was up first - and sure enough - fluid in my lower abdomen - OHSS. They also took a urine sample, ran a CBC, and listened to my heart and lungs. As I was driving home, the nurse called to say they did a urine pregnancy test right after I left, and I was pregnant - and she had no idea what the emergency room staff was doing yesterday because the line was pretty dark. But she knew how bummed I was and wanted to call me right away. Shortly after, she called with the confirming bloodwork - Beta 265.
I know per the rules I must move on to another board but I will seriously miss all of you. There is no way I would have come this far without the support and encouragement of each and every one of you. Thank you is not enough. You are all in my thoughts and prayers that soon you will be joining me.

BFP #7 (beyond surprised again!) 4/26/16. EDD 1/5/17. beautiful betas!!!! and then near-fatal hemorrhagic corpus luteum. turns out baby was ectopic after all; another lap 5/6 (@24dpo).

Started with RE in August 2010, dx with unexplained IF and then finally our 3rd IUI cycle using Follistim and Trigger resulted in our wonderful little man. Born 12/2/11
TTC#2 Never really prevented, but were careful early on as Dr. reccomended
Surprise BFP 12/16/13, started progesterone immediately as first numbers came back low, but betas were good. Progesterone wasnt enough. Natural MC 12/24/13.
Back with RE as of January 2014...
