Betty is a family name that my husband is really attached to. But I just can't get on board with it as the formal name. What are your thoughts on formal name Beatrice with nn Betty. Is that too much of a stretch?
Beatrice doesn't easily transition to Betty IMO as I usually see Bea/bee or trixie as the common nns for Beatrice.
I'm pretty sure Elisabeth is where the NN Betty comes from. I agree with what PP said about Beatrice. Also, I think Elizabeth is a much prettier name altogether... However, I have 2 grandmas with the name Betty as their FN. I don't think it's bad or has to be just a NN though I do see why you are hesitant.
