Most OBs will do NSTs when you are post dates to be sure LO is doing well. It doesn't really have to do with having an induction. I had one yesterday (40+4) and will have another on Thursday (41 weeks). I also have a BPP on Wednesday. I do have an induction scheduled for Friday, but would still be having all of the testing done if the induction wasn't scheduled.
As you pass your EDD there are higher chances that your placenta will start to deteriorate and not support LO. It doesn't always happen, but it's better to be safe than sorry.
TTC since 11/2009; Lap/HSG/Hysteroscopy: 5/2011 (endometriosis - removed; endocervical polyp - removed; high pressure in bilateral tubes - cleared)
BFP #1: 8/4/11; DS1 born sleeping on 11/16/11 at 19w1d
I was induced at 41+1 and didn't have one, however from reading these boards I know it's fairly common practice to have regular NSTs once you are past your EDD.

I"m only 35 weeks (tomorrow) and have NSTs twice a week. Its not biggie just your doctor being cautious and extra careful of the health of your lo. I don't think it actually has anything to do with the induction. She probably just wants to check on your baby since you are "overdue"
My doctor told me that I'd have to have one if I went over due, but then he ended up sending me for an induction at my first appointment past EDD, so the NST never happened.
I had to do lots of NSTs with DS1 though, and they weren't bad. I think maybe about half an hour each. I would try to find someone to watch your DS though because they're pretty boring, and you can't move while it's happening.
