good idea or bad idea?

My last BMB did a gift exchange for Mothers Day. We used the site "Elfster" which keeps all addresses private except for who you get. There is also an option to set a dollar limit and add a wishlist to give your "elf" some ideas. Then as the gifts start rolling in we create a thread and everyone posts what they got. We can also keep it annonymous so you have to try and guess who sent you the item.

What do you think?

We should have done secret Santa. We should do a thing where you send things from where you are from. Or easter. Or whatever I like sending presents.

What would the limit be? I know a lot of us are on a budget. On that note it might be a good idea to group the Canada Bumpies together. Not that I personally mind but I send stuff to my cousins in Canada and it can get a little pricey depending on weight. But then again I'm sure there's also some intentional Bumpies we don't want to leave out.....

I am totally for the gift exchange in general. I did it with TTGP the Christmas before my BFP.

We should do it quarterly. Mother's day (or easter), summer can be gifts from where you are from, Halloween and Christmas. Or something.

We just did an ornament exchange on my DD's BMB (May '13) and it was a lot b of fun. Some regs there choose not to participate, they didn't feel comfortable giving even one Bumpie their address. However, after the AW thread with our ornaments, some were converted and will be participating when we have the LOs 2nd birthday gift exchange!

I know I don't post much but I lurk a lot and regret not getting in on labor buddies. I don't wanna miss this opportunity. I'm in! Also, I used elfster for my family secret santa and it is a great site. You can add caveats in case you wanna group people together, like the Canadians or keep someone from getting someone else or whatnot. Also, I will ship to Canada.
