I'm here. a little update on my parents dog sitter. He was gone all day yesterday so I had the dog at our house. Dog sitter came home and said he would take him back. I let the dog out and shortly after got a text from the sitter.
"Ummm G won't come to me. He keeps barking at me and growling. I can't get him in the house. What should I do?"
My response "Doesn't surprise me. He holds grudges. Just go ahead and leave and I'll take care of him until my parents get back."
I don't blame the dog for not wanting to go near him. He's worthless and my mom is too nice to do anything now.
Aww poor pup @alinnjo glad you've been there for him.
B got his hair cut last night finally. It was a mop on his head. This was the first hair cut he hasn't fought the whole time. I ended up giving him my phone to play on and he happily swam the fish around on it.
I think we're getting a new car this weekend but I'm not 100%. I have to go look at it Saturday. This should be fun taking a 2 year old to test drive a car 1 hour away. FX he cooperates for me.
I'm around but I'll be in and out today. It's a meeting day.
@alinnjo He sounds ridiculous. I wouldn't even let him back around the dog. I hope she doesn't pay him in full either.
@pokedot We finally figured out that all of Ethan's fighting during a haircut was the clippers. As long as she uses scissors only, he's totally fine. It doesn't look as nice and neat, but we will just deal with it for a while. At least B will take a distraction, so maybe you can get through them that way.
We planned Maya's birthday party at a local museum the first weekend in March with intent to invite her whole school class. Of course, yesterday her teacher sent home permission slips for the same museum for the class to make trips 1/23 and 2/20. Damn.
@Pokedot I try to use the phone as a last resort. Sometimes it just makes things SO much easier. The only place I refuse to use it is in a restaurant and the grocery store! We haven't done a haircut yet so I'll be interested to see what happens. I think it will be awhile though!!
Yes @kdsmith43 We got our first Great Dane when I was 8 and We've had one ever since. We have 2, my parents have 1 and my sister has 1.
We always had a chow growing up, they are really cool dogs. You never really see them anymore. We also had a sharpei when I was too little to remember, but I love looking at pictures of him. So wrinkly! I want to get T a dog one day when he's a little bit older and we have a bigger house. I have tried to talk DH into getting another cat but he won't go for it.
I'm going to AW for a minute. I submitted a photo and short caption in the Atlantis Resort 20th anniversary photo contest and I freaking WON the grand prize. It's 3 nights/4 days and airfare. I just submitted all of the paperwork. I still can't believe it.
Yay for Friday!!! We have no plans of now and i am excited to hibernate for this long weekend
@pokedot - we took Grant to test drive a few of the cars I test drove when we were car shopping and he loved it. The kid loves cars It also helped us to find out which ones the seat fit in as we were taking one out anyway to just sit it back there to judge space (another issue with DH being so tall!) So maybe it wont' be too bad and he can work in a nap on the trip there...
@alinnjo - That's awful! It's hard enough on dogs when their people are gone, but then to have someone they don't trust. That's hard. Glad you're there to help take care of him!
@BeebopandBuddy is it a really good hands-on museum? If so, I'd just keep it there. The children's museum near us has so much stuff the kids can't fit it all in at one time. Plus, sometimes they have more fun because they know where to go and what to expect. They will all be REALLY excited to go again.

She uses scissors on him but he was just so scared. I usually had to have him sit on me facing me in order for it to work. I downloaded some of the apps you ladies suggested and he loves the fish swimming one so I let him do that. I usually don't let him play with my phone at all but sometimes desperate times call for desperate measures. He wouldn't let my aunt come hear him with the electric though beebop so it's not just Ethan.

FFFC: I've used the phone (or ipad) at restaurants and grocery stores.
My boss' boss just popped over to mention that our CFO needs something in an hour. She asked if my boss gave me a heads up? Um, no. That would have been nice to know earlier! Sometimes she drives me crazy.
My team is working on it, but now I am going to stress for the next 45 minutes that it won't be done on time and unfortunately I can't help because it's really only a one-person job. Ugh.
@AlinnJo That is so cool that you won. I'm definitely jealous.
We still haven't found a fix for DS and his haircut freak outs. We've tried everything and he just gets himself so worked up and the only solution to calm him down is to leave. Obviously he needs a haircut from time to time though, so I have to physically restrain him and the hairdresser works as fast as possible. It's probably my least favorite thing to do with him.l
Kids have their first day of 'school' this morning. I'm excited.
Have you tried a sucker or something? I usually bribe with candy as well. I figured if the iphone didn't work it was a promise of ice cream after. Thankfully I didn't need that. I'm still so surprised how much better it went. Usually he sounds like Henry and freaks. We're on haircut #4 now.
My DS doesn't do well with the clippers either. We haven't gone the phone route, but that is mostly because he prefers flirting with all the ladies at the salon. I'm in trouble when he gets older!
My BIL is a barber, so he cuts Nancy's hair, which she loves because he's a big goof ball. However whenever we have to go, I'll say "Nancy, Uncle Joe is going to give you a haircut tomorrow" and her response will be "And I get to push my little cart?" Because she thinks we're going to Trader Joe's, and not Uncle Joe's.
Around our area ice fishing is HUGE. I just got a text alert that there was a 4 wheeler and body discovered under the ice this morning. We have huge ore boats that go through and I'm thinking there was a crack from the boat, a guy was heading back last night and fell through. Since it's nighttime no ones around to help. It's so sad yet there are so many that die each year from it. I'm sorry but no fish is worth my life.

It is a good hands-on place so I think we are just going to go ahead as planned. I'm hoping that the parents will see it as a good opportunity to go with their kid, for free, to a place their kid has told them about after going with their school. I don't really have any other ideas for somewhere to have it and I already paid the deposit, so I'll just give it a try.
Happy Friday! I got to work late, because I was taking Lily to her orthopedic check-up. She had hip dysplasia when she was born, so we have check-ups every year. Everything looks good so far, so I'm happy about that. Not much else going on here.
Sam and I slept until 9:10 this morning. The shift thing worked out again and he's fallen into sleeping 3 hr chunks at night. I feel guilty about this because DH is getting Jack & Will up and out to the sitter's by 7:30 but I'm not sure why....
I can't remember the last time I've slept past 8/8:30 since becoming a mom. My natural alarm clock gets me up and going bc I can never shut my To Do list off.

I woke up this morning and got us all ready to take Nola to preschool. Literally 5 minutes before I was going to walk out the door I turn the TV to the local channel and the school is closed. I was so frustrated! She doesn't go back until next Friday because they're closed half of next week. We are out of the house today, I couldn't take it anymore!!
FFFC: Sawyer has never had a haircut and I have no intention of cutting her beautiful hair any time soon. I'm not cutting it until it starts looking scraggly at the ends or she asks me to. I LOVE her hair! Poor Lennon is still bald on top, which I actually find insanely cute, but I hope that it changes soon.

I was up all night with tummy pain then I had to get the dog to the vet 40 minutes away by 6:30. DH as asleep when I left because he got in late last night, I'm still grumpy that i had to take the baby with me.

I wouldn't cut my hair if it looked as good as Sawyers, let alone my kids hair! I doubt my kids will get hair cuts before they go to school, I love long hair. That being said I so miss my bald baby.

I wouldn't cut it either. She has amazing hair. B's was like a mop with a curl on the end.

That is another perk of being a girl you don't need to have hair cuts, long hair looks fantastic! I just feel bad for those little girls who tend to have slow growing hair and still have boyish hair cuts at two and three (Grant has a girl like that in his class and I have a friend who's daughter was that way).
My son on the other hand grows mullets. Full out business in the front party in the back mullets. So a hair cut is required every couple of months primarily to tame the mullet! It did however work to his advantage when we took him to his first minor league hockey game. he fit right in

I wouldn't cut her hair either. I'm sure a lot of you remember what a giant baby I was about cutting Maya's hair. She was practically sitting on it by then. Plus, I liked being able to donate her first cut. It makes a nice story for her.
