Irregular periods after childbirth/ when to go to dr if my period doesn't become regular

Hi I have a question to throw out to anyone who can answer it. I just recently gave birth to my son in September he was born two months early and spend some time in the nicu. While he was in the nicu I pumped breastmilk for him all throughout his stay in the nicu and continued doing so a month after he got home, eventually switching him to formula I got my first postpartum period a month after stopping breast pumping. My second postpartum period is 6 days late.The question that I have is this a normal thing for a second postpartum period to be late? Also because of my difficulty in getting pregnant with our son and me being ama we are going to ttc our second baby in the spring without a regular cycle though I'm wondering would an obgyn give you something to jumpstart your cycle if it doesn't resume?i'm mainly concerned about it resuming quickly because I'm 35 years old.

Thank you for answering my question I'm just clueless as to when an irregular cycle would be a problem I guess mainly I worry because of my age I'm 35

I have never had "regular" cycles but when they returned they were immediately my normal which is to O anywhere from CD 20-30.

I was very regular too and it took forever (months) to get back to normal. Give it another cycle or two before you worry too much

My RE just wanted me to have a period within 2 weeks of completely weaning. My LO is almost 22m old and my cycles remained more irregular than prepartum up until about 3 months ago. Two different clinics have been aware of this and it hasn't seemed to matter. GL

I never had regular cycles ever, my first PP period with my first was when he was 9 mo old. Then I never got one again. When we decided to TTC #2 I went back to my RE and just went on meds to kickstart my cycles again.
