Potty training 2.5 year old girl - not producing yet says has to go

I have a son and potty training was pretty simple.  Daughter hasn't been as easy.  Started this week, she got cold/flu so she hasn't been drinking much because she feels bad, but getting worried that she's not producing.  Will complain she has to go but then nothing happens.  I'm afraid she's going to wind up with a kidney infection.  Any suggestions?
