yes I agree @ndz2018 - I was doing much better over the summer months because I wasn't thinking about it.  I decided I will no longer OPK, temping is out of question, and we will just go with flow.  Once we started really trying again lots of old thoughts came back in my brain.  I had my blood taken today which was needed before she could talk about supplementation so I should only have 1-2 more appts with her.  I'm not going to even seek out an RE until next year.  DH said I'm always thinking ahead and trying to get to that when I should just focus on now and he's right.  I shouldn't waste time on it because this is a busy time of year and my energy should be focused on the things that actually matter.

@harleyquinn0621 I’m glad you’re okay but sorry for the roller coaster you’ve had to go through!

i needed a break for a few days, am better now.

@vlagrl29 just to clarify, we’ve never tested any embryos, we’ve never had any even get to the stage where they could implant them if we wanted to go that route, they always die first. As for the insurance, this will be our last attempt coming up because that will put us at our lifetime max cap. So, like you and others on here I’m focused on learning about egg quality, being in balance, that kind of thing as I go into this last chance.

@Momifbysea We all have our days where we feel defeated and alone.. taking breaks are super important! Sometimes we gotta set the reset button. So glad you’re back! Quick question how many is the max? I hear 3 Times is usually it. We have our appointment with the RE next Friday.

Also can someone explain to be the process? I had friend go through it a while back.. I feel like they did 3 IUIs and then went to IVF I’m almost postive she did that 3 Times but all were unsuccessful. This is our first consultation so I’m kinda looking forward to it but not at the same time if you know what I mean.

@harleyquinn0621 Yikes, that sucks but I’m so glad they caught it early!  That was one of my top fears with my only pregnancy to date - I thought it was insane that they don’t check for it sooner and was so relieved at my first appointment at 8 weeks that she was where she was supposed be.  Hope your body does what it’s supposed to to cooperate so you’re back on track quickly.

@ndz2018 Insurance coverage is usually up to the employer providing it (for employer sponsored plans).  Most people have to do multiple cycles (and some choose to bank embryos).  My lifetime max cap was two cycles, so my last two cycles were out of pocket (though at least all meds were fully covered, which is huge).  We skipped IUIs because we got pregnant our 2nd month trying (the month after we got married last year), and we went straight to IVF to screen for chromosomal abnormalities to try to avoid another *TW* loss (higher % abnormal ones at my age).  Sometimes insurance companies require women to do 3-6 IUIs before they will cover IVF.  I was lucky that my insurance basically took my RE’s word on my infertility diagnosis (last December was 6 mos trying without a successful pregnancy - even though we were “pregnant” for nearly 12 weeks of those 6 mos) - in my case the label worked in my favor in the context of insurance coverage.  About what process are you inquiring?  Even when I met with my new RE at the end of August, I found it made me more hopeful and optimistic. But I admit to being more than a little neurotic and so it comforts me to have a plan.

@momifbysea - thanks for the clarification.  I had assumed you had them tested and that's when they didn't make it.  I really really hope this is your cycle.  I also recommend a couple visits with a functional medicine doctor.  It's a totally different process than with an OB or MD or even an RE in your case.  I have an appt this Thurs to go over my lab results.  I had the most blood ever taken yesterday!  9 viles - I was kinda nervous lol.

@artemis618 Well I guess I’m just wondering what to expect when we go for our consultation?  Did they jump right into things? I should be getting my AF next weekend. And kinda would love to get started ASAP
OH and I work for the local government so I have pretty kick as* insurance. I guess I’ll find out when I speak to the finance people at the RE to find out how good.

@ndz2018 Ah, I see.  I’ve only had CD3 bloodwork ordered by an RE (when I froze eggs in 2012 then when I went to RE last November after my *TW* loss).  With my second RE (this year - not counting the egg freezing guy from 5 years ago), I just brought all my records in with me and 30 days after that initial consult I was at egg retrieval because of the the short protocol, so changing is a lot quicker assuming all tests and stuff have been done.  I think it’s mainly to give them an idea of how you might respond to stim medications.  If you haven’t had the bloodwork done (FSH, E2, LH - AMH can be tested any time during your cycle), I imagine you would do that with this next cycle then could start as soon as your next one after that, but again I haven’t done IUI so not sure.  My end of August consult included an ultrasound as well (for some reason I wasn’t expecting that, which gave us a hint about my unsuppressed antral follicle count).  Our consults were probably a little different though since went in with the express purpose of PGS testing.

@ndz2018 my first RE did no testing and wanted to jump into IUIs with Clomid.... my second one (who is my current RE which I love to death) did a TON of testing right away, i appreciated how thorough she is. i believe my initial problems was due to minor blockage in the tubes because 3 months after my first HSG i got pregnant naturally after 8 years of nothing .....

I was pregnant when I had all fertility testing done. The week after my HSG I found out I was 4 weeks along.
