    Question #1-

Do you remember how much you paid for NB photos? We didn't do any with Jack, except the hospital ones, and my cousin, the budding photog did Will's. She is moving to Brazil for her H's work on 1/7 and baby #3 won't make his arrival until 1/10.
I found a local photographer that will do NB pics, including sibs and us for $300. It includes: 2-4 hr session, 2-3 edited images for a birth announcement (within a week of session), 20-25 fully edited images in an online gallery, CD with edited images and print release
    Does that seem reasonable?

  • Question #2-

I need to pack my hospital bag and a trip to Ulta is on the To Do this week. Latest beauty product recommendations....and go!
    Dry shampoo?
Mousse? (I like volume! I was using Redken but it leaves my hair more crunchy than I'd like.)

I would be bummed about that too.  In our first exchange my buddy didn't send Ethan's book until November for his September birthday and I was super bummed when I thought it wasn't coming.  I almost didn't participate in any more after that.

I hope you get your socks.
  • Question #3
Probably the most important ? but it's not as high of a priority at the moment. Baby Tres's Name
These are our final choices: Charles Jeffrey (nn Charlie) or Samuel Jeffrey( nn Sam)
Jeffrey is the middle name for sure. It's my BIL's name, a long story, and I lost that battle. I never thought we'd be having a 3rd boy, which is why we are at a standstill. I feel we used all of our favorites on Jack and Will. Poor baby tres!

Jack is Jack.son Doyle D_____ (our top 1st name and my maiden name for his middle)
Will is Will.iam Michael D_____ (named after FIL, who is called Bill and DH is a Mike)

We obviously like nicknames and want something we can shorten to sort of "go" with the other 2. I had a short love for Carter, Grant and Graham but we wanted something nickname-able and more classic. Even though Jackson is more modern, to us he's Jack and that's classic.

But here's the thing. My great uncle who passed away on Christmas Day was a Sam. We don't have a Sam in this generation and that's why it was one of our final choices, despite it being my great uncle's name. And I'm Italian, reusing names is no biggie(Guess how many Joseph's I'm related to?;) )Now if we name this baby Sam, people are going to think it was in honor of him. And I guess it could be. But it's also very soon too. Like maybe too soon. The name has been on our list for months, but we don't share until the baby is born.
Also, I sort of think it sounds better with Jack & Will.

    Jack, Will & Sam
    Jack, Will & Charlie.
But I also like that Charles Jeffrey could be a CJ or a Charlie. And SJ does not work.

I have always liked the name Sam and I love family names.  I also don't really like nn with initials, so I prefer Samuel with the nn Sam more than Charles with the nn CJ.
  • I'm last-minute packing for our trip to Florida.

H waited until the last minute to book a rental car, and FIL was all "There's a full size car for $300 something." And H was all "It's just Florida, you don't need that much."

Yeah, we don't need "that much" to travel for 8 days with a 2 year old and 5 month old.

I say yes, that's very reasonnble with a print release. Since we moved, I need to use a different photographer this time and the only one I've found with comparable photos to Boo's is a $200 session fee and you pay for images after that. :-(

I really liked the remake. Jamie Fox was great. I hated the way over produced songs (I could barely hear Cameron Diaz singing), but I liked the little twists in the story and I felt like it flowed better. I did kind of miss the grit of the original (Ms Hannigan would not have put Toms on the girls), the fact that she was already in an institution with lots of little girls, and I wish that Stacks would have lived in a mansion off Long Island instead of an apartment. But the apartment was part of the not wanting other people around and the 1980's version, he had tons of staff around his house. All in all, it was good.

Agree. If you like her work, that is on the low end for newborn pictures with a CD and release.

It really freaked me out when someone random commented on the daycare thread and seemed to know info about THT.  I obviously know that nothing that we post on here is private, but it's still freaky to think that people can just follow along on all of our lives as we post here.  I guess I never think we are all that interesting that people would just follow along.

Not that we aren't interesting.  We are awesome.

I recognize her siggy so I didn't think of her as a total random, just someone that has drifted off to lurkerville but used to be part of the board.
I didn't recognize it but I'm glad she isn't totally random.  That makes it less weird.

That is an amazing price. I paid $550 for 3 hours and 25 edited images. And I got that price because the photographer was running a special, it was normally $850.

@tyrannasaurusjess ok that name is too long to tag and I know I mispelled it. Do you know?
@loislayn and @hmp1 yep, it's the same person! I'm bummed you haven't gotten your socks, yet, either. I'm hoping there is a legit excuse-- like she's been out of town or something, although I dunno, because we drew names over a month ago. :(

@amandad715 I think that's a great price for a photographer. I love Amika dry shampoo-- it's one of the only ones that doesn't leave my hair with a whitish look to it. Not sure if it's at Ulta or not, though.
  • @amandad715‌ that's a really good price. We paid $250 and didn't get any photos or images, just birth announcements. We had to buy the disc separately. We spent close to $1,000 on a session, announcements, baby album and disc.

  • Ugh. I'm at my OB's office and am having to do a NST. Boo. Two weeks ago, I ended up at L&D for further monitoring. That would suck if it happens again. Mostly bc I'm hungry and I haven't eaten lunch. And two bc it's NYE and I have some baking to do during naptime for a party at a friend's house tonight.

But baby's HR dipped a little while my dr was listening to him on the Doppler, and I had some decreased movement on Mon night, so better to be safe than sorry.

Also, what are you packing in your bag?  All I can think of are a going home outfit, toiletries for me, 2 pair yoga pants, and some nursing tanks.  I know I'm forgetting something.  I'm so jealous of how far along you are.  I want to be effing done with pregnancy.

ETA - whoa just saw you are at the doc's office - hope everything is okay!

  • I am not referring to anyone on here or on my IG, but people on FB selling Jamberry.

Does anyone actually know how to put them on and make them look good?  There is one chic selling them and they never cover the entire nail and they have sharp edges and ripples.  I'm like, yah those look good........ from 20 feet away.

When I did the Sally Hanson nail thingies they fit perfectly and looked freaking awesome, but at $10+ a pop, I was like uh no thanks, I'll just go get my nails painted somewhere.

It's hard to get them on right.  I know there are lots of people that do.  TBH, I still have a hard time and have never gotten a perfect application.  I've seen pics of some though and they look really good.  I think I might have problem fingernails.

I have a FFFC and I can't believe I'm admitting it. I hate where we moved and I really miss living in the city. My real FFFC is that I agreed to move out of the city to make H happy and now I'm sort of miserable. I miss my two mom friends who lived blocks from me and I miss walking to the store to get whatever we need. I'm trying to come across as super whiny but I'm having bad anxiety and a little bit of depression over the entire thing. I legit asked H two days ago if we could sell the house.

The Sally Hansen ones are polish strips, so they go on without heat or anything but still say they last a week and can still chip.  Plus, the strips dry out once you open them.  The Jamberry ones use the hair dryer because they are vinyl wraps that heat-seal on and last up to two weeks on your fingers without chipping.  The sheet is $15 but yields 3-4 manis.pedis and the wraps can be used over time.  They are super durable and cute if you can perfect the application.  It's a little tricky though.  Damn you for sucking me into my sales pitch   :P

LOL!  I figured you knew the difference!  FWIW I really liked the sally hansen ones I tried but their selection sucks.  They were gold glitter so probably more durable than the other polish strips, but yah, only enough for 1 application.

I should PIP the lady's who sells them on my FB.  She must let her dog put them on for her.  Not that I can really talk - my nails look like total crap all the time, but I always LOL because she's trying to sell them and she has to be the worst applicator in the galaxy.

  • Glad I didn't buy that second crib last night.  Crackhead just landed on her head up there and I had to rock her for a half hour to get her to calm down.

FFFC I hope it made her hysterical enough that she's now dead tired and will sleep.  She slept until 8:45 this morning in the crib (!!!) so hopefully this was a one time dive out, though I doubt it :(

  • I told someone I was 34 weeks a week ago and now I am really, really disappointed that I'm just hitting the 34w mark.  Guess I shouldn't have lied!

DH's aunt: "You look a lot further along than someone having a baby in February, I don't think your doctor got the right due date."
me: "Oh really?  I am 34 weeks and about where I was with my first pregnancy"
aunt:  "Beth [her daughter] never got that big, my god"
me:  "oh, well she's almost a full foot taller than me so maybe she had more room in her torso for organs and the baby"

:(  Plus I have major fat face when I gain weight.  I look like a different person with my Charlie Brown big round head.

Yes, more outdoor space and bigger house but I'm struggling with missing our "old" life. I think part of it is adjusting to life with two kids as well, but it's the move too.
