I have my glucose test at 1:00. Why oh why did I schedule it at that time of day. Ate breakfast but feel like I want to eat again but don't know what to eat waaaaaahhhh.
It's crazy and exciting to see the birth announcement thread!! I'm nesting like crazy over here and I just can't wait for the next 9 weeks to fly by! We are picking up our dresser tonight and our stroller And 2nd car seat tomorrow and then were ready! The nursery is stuffed and I absolutely love just sitting in there and looking at everything!
Thanks @Coozieinmypurse, this song will totally be stuck in my head all day!
I realize now that I've just put in my plea for a LB that I'm not helping my cause out any by giving the entire board an earworm. I do hope everyone will forgive me!
Thanks @Coozieinmypurse, this song will totally be stuck in my head all day!
For all my heartburn sufferers out there, anyone having ear pain?? Yesterday by the end of the day, my ears were SO sore. I looked it up, and apparently if your acid reflux is high enough in your esophagus, it can somehow get into the tube that connects your ears to your throat. Worst. Pain. Ever.
Oh, wow... That sounds terrible! Are you taking anything? I've had really good luck with OB-approved Prilosec. When I don't take it I want to rip my chest out.
There are painters here finishing up some stuff that we couldn't do (like trim). I feel so weird when people are working on the house. What am I supposed to do? It feels wrong just sitting here watching TV.
I have pretty crappy heart burn too. I've tried all the over the counter stuff and it helps a little. What has helped me the most is not drinking anything when I eat, no spicy foods and not drinking water laying in bed (when I wake up in the middle of the night). May not help you guys but wanted to share.
So I'm slightly spazzing out because over the last day or so, I am fairly confident that LO has dropped!
I have the "lightening" (I told H last night "I don't feel as pregnant. Do I look as pregnant?"), I have the punches/kicks to the vag/butt. I have the near-constant urge to pee (even after I go, as soon as I stand up, I feel like I have to pee again due to all the pressure)...
luckily, I also have an OB appt today at 1:30. So I'll have them feel around and tell me what's up, but in my googling I've found that if she's dropped AND engaged, they'll likely put me BACK on bed rest until I go in to Labor. (Noo! My SIL finally planned my baby shower!)
So wish me luck- I'll keep y'all updated.
OH also- Happy Tuesday to everyone! It's almost the New Year!
For those of you dealing with HB, try asking abiut prescription strength Famotadine. It's pregnancy safe, and it helps me sooo much.
As for my day, I have another u/s scheduled today to determine if it will be safe for me to vaginally deliver (low lying placenta). I barely slept last night because I kept dreaming I was getting the u/s done, and juuuust about to find out the results. Blarg.
Is anyone else getting a bunch of blankets made for their lo?
I have 3 or 4 coming still. My mom kept my blanket from when I came home from the adoption agency and my grandma before she passed made a blanket for each grandchild so our children would have a blanket made by her. My sil gave me one not sure where or who made it.
I appreciate all the time spent by everyone making them I just wanted to see.
My mom made a crib quilt, mostly out of her old dresses (like before-I-was-born old) and MIL crocheted a blanket. That's all I expect, but you never know what the more crafty people in your family/friends circle might turn up at the shower.
I feel like my house is a complete disaster and just want to start cleaning and nesting. H is constantly trying to push me to rest/relax which sounds great but then nothing is getting accomplished. We undecorated the Xmas tree last night, and I'm hoping he has the living room cleaned up by the time I get home from work. (He actually offered to clean up the fallen pine needles and throw the tree outside.)
@jennypm the lovetit was for commiseration. XH and I have had such a difficult time getting his name off the house that I'm keeping. (It was in both our names.) The whole process has been ridiculous, but after nearly 2 years we're in the final stages of having it complete.
I've decided to continue working on a knitted baby blanket that I started 3 years ago originally planned for a friend. It's pink, and it'll be a great gift for my daughter. I have more motivation to finish it now and each week I'm closer to having her here.
I keep having issues with either organs or her going inside my right side of ribs. Anyone else?

I failed my glucose tolerance test ( Now I guess on to the 3 hour soon. With DD I failed the 1 hour and passed my 3 hour so hopefully that is the case here!
Two of my colleagues are at work today and they should not be. Both are coughing and the snot is flowing. One is even nauseous and throwing up once in a while.
We are extremely short staffed due to holiday vacations. But... c'mon! It's not worth spreading your grossness to those around you.
Just praying my flu shot and some extra vitamin c keep the germs away (

Oh! I nearly forgot... I'm so glad that whomever had that voodoo doll of me has apparently stopped shoving pins in my right hip. My sciatic pain has been nearly non-existent for the past two days! (Totally tempting fate right now by AWing this).
Well, I went home last night and took some benadryl and passed out. I feel a little better today, except the crap seems to have moved into my chest and now I'm coughing and my throat hurts from it.
Love being sick. At least I could breathe when I woke up this morning.
@MalVough I think we should be allowed to throat punch people who do that. A co-worker of mine came in yesterday with the FLU. And she was all up in the kitchen- using the same water dispenser as everyone else. Touching the stack of styrofoam cups, all the while saying "Y'all should stay away from me! I'm sick!" ... I straight up told her "It's YOU who should stay away from us. GO HOME."
So we are touring our hospital tonight and I thought I had all my questions ready. Then someone brought up something about vitamin K shots and eye goop...
I don't know anything about that. What do I need to ask/know about this stuff?
Be my Google!
I found this on Pinterest and found it informative.

I was reading that even anti-vacs choose to get the Vit K shot. Something to do with potential issues after baby is born vaginally. The eye goop, I have read, is not necessary and was planning to add to my birth plan to not receive. I used to have a reason ... (but can't recall it now).
Edit: I may have been wrong. Many anti vaccs are apparently passing on this, too, even though it's not a vaccine.
@megaugust10 My MIL made 2 cross-stitch blankets for LO. (She asked me and H to pick out a blanket design about 2 years ago so she'd be prepared when we had our baby.)

@saltyfins - I just read a GREAT article written by doctors on 10 things you should decide or the hospital will decide for you. Both of the things you mentioned are in there- its gives you pros and cons of each, when they're necessary, and why you might want to opt out:
@Peledreamsofrain and @lawsonellis hope your appointments go well today! @megaugust10 I know im getting at least two homemade blankets from friends/family, and I will most likely end up making one myself as well.
@jennypm That's just awful. I hope everything gets taken care of for you. It has to be such a headache to deal with that bs after he originally could have had the re-fi done earlier. Ugh

I know at our hospital, they told us it is required by law for them to put the antibiotic ointment on baby's eyes when they are born. Like, they could get sued if they don't do it. As far as the Vitamin K shot, I'm not sure about that.
Ack! Posted too soon, and now I don't remember who else I was gonna tag. Anyway, yesterday's random made me want waffles, so I'm making waffles this morning. Also, my cat who was missing for two days came home last night! I was so happy!
Now that I know we are having a boy, I'm going through DD's clothes and selling/donating what is too small. It's bittersweet to say the least.
And the furniture for the baby is being delivered today (was a surprise Christmas gift from my parents!) but we haven't cleaned out the bedroom yet, it's literally full of stuff. I'm stressing out because we have to keep the furniture in the garage until we get the room cleared out. We weren't planning on getting furniture so soon so we are not prepared at all!
I think I also remember reading that breast milk could be squirted into the babies eyes, instead of the goop. Need to re-read all the stuff I read before, now. Can't believe I forgot all of this!
(And I swear I read today that breast milk could be used on diaper rash, as well?!)

@jennypm - I'm so sorry about your XH. Even though my parents are married I grew up in a household kind of like that - and it turns out there was a lot of weirdness that happened that I am still struggling with that I could never talk about when I was younger - and am still nervous to talk about now.
My sister is the same way with her girls - she forbids them to talk about certain things with anyone - especially their father. My sister's new H is verbally abusive to the girls and they are terrified to tell anyone. It's a culture of secrets and lies and I can tell its impacting the older one - she is scared to talk to anyone. And the younger one gets in trouble almost every time she talks to me. I don't have any advice - I'm just sorry you and your girls have to deal with that.
@darbie914 - sorry about the numbness. The splints help a little - but no longer work that well for me. If anything I have found that working on the computer is the only way to get a little relief. Also - donut holes for heartburn and reflux -not kidding. Don't know why but it works for me.
I'm just sitting in the OB waiting room bored as hell. I've been sitting here for 45 minutes, needing to pee but trying to hold it so I can pee in the cup @-)
On a happier note, DS pooped in the potty last night <:-P
Maybe he'll be potty trained by the time LO gets here [-O<
@megaugust10 - my aunts and cousin are quilters and they made me a gorgeous quilt for LO. Homemade blankets are the best gifts!
aw - it's my birthday today! My age rhymes with "dirty plate"and I am so grateful to be pregnant! I don't mind getting older and life continues to get better, but the last few birthdays were bittersweet, dealing with infertility and age.
I am at the spa waiting for my pedicure to dry. I've been trying to get my toes did for the last six weeks. So happy! I got a gingerbread latte this morning and am going out for dinner with dh tonight. Haven't decided on Belgian, Indonesian, or Italian food yet.
Question - anyone had any pregnancy massages yet? How was it? I like massages but am not sure what to expect with a pregnancy one. I don't have any particular aches and pains yet, so this would be just for relaxation. Treat yo' self!

@megaugust10 - I'm interested - what else can a breast pump be used for besides pumping if you get it early?
I'm not able to get mine until 1m before the due date. I have requested it - but it won't ship to me until Feb.
I've read a couple of birth stories about people using the pump to stimulate contractions. I have no idea if that actually works, though.
