Pregnant after 35

38 and pregnant... almost 7 weeks... new to this board...

Hi!  I found out two weeks ago that I am pregnant!  I started spotting yesterday, just a very pale pale pink when I wipe.  It has been very minimal.  Then today there was a brighter more red blood wipe after a BM.  It was only red once, the rest of the time it is a brownish red or pale pink... Im concerned and have yet to go to by first DR visit.  It is scheduled for Jan. 14.  I am home for the holidays and am wondering if I should try and get into my sisters obgyn.  Thoughts?  Anyone have similar issue?  There hasn't been any serious cramping either... just gas. ;)

Fingers Crossed!  Some spotting and bleeding is normal, but I would recommend calling your OB tomorrow and see what they want you to do.  You mentioned your sister's OB, I assume that is because you will be using that OB too?  If not, you should call the office where you have your appointment scheduled.  Hope the bleeding stops.

I had very minor spotting around that time too - just on one wipe. Later on, around 15 weeks, I also had some minor but bright red spotting after cramping; the OB on call asked me to come in for an ultrasound. Both times it turned out to be nothing. You have a lot of very sensitive blood vessels now and some spotting is not unusual. However, if you start cramping or it gets heavier, do seek medical attention. And do report this spotting to your OB, just so they have it on file (and in case they want you to come in and get checked out).  I hope it stops and you have a totally worry-free pregnancy!
  • More than likely you are fine( hopefully) That happened to me at eight weeks and then a few days ago I woke up in a pool of blood and fluid- I was sure I was miscarrying and my husband rushed me to the er, they took blood, urine and performed an ultrasound and told me everything was fine - they had no answer as to why that happened, The next day I bled and cramped all day to the point that my pain scale was at an eight- I went in again - they gave me another ultrasound and once again told me the baby was fine and even at this point 15 weeks there would be nothing they could do if something were to go wrong , In total I bled three days straight and I see my regular ob on Monday , so far so good and I'm praying that it will stay that way, I'm 34  and this has never happened with my other pregnancies but after asking around I'm hearing that it is something fairly common. Everyone that I talked to said their babies came out fine- Good luck and sending prayers your way for you and your baby.
  • Welcome to the board. Will be keeping my FX for you!! I had some spotting with my most of my pregnancies too. Even this time around. Keep us posted.
