So, last night's five hour stretch of sleep may not have been an anomaly. William just slept 4.5 hours! In a row! Fingers crossed that this is his new normal!

Oh holy hell, I went down a rabbit hole of reading a blog that came up on my Facebook newsfeed...a mama who lost her six year old son to a brain tumor. I am now sobbing ugly tears and squeezing my little girl.

I would always be touched by stories like this, but since this sweet little one has made me a mama, my heart aches so much more.

LO last ate two hours ago...I am still awake. Now, do I try to sleep? She's typically up every 2-3 at night. Something tells me if I stay awake, it'll be the one night she sleeps through...

I'm just about to put LO down - hoping for another 6.5 hour stretch like she did last night. I've kept her up singing Christmas carols - she only cried a little bit over my singing. Mini win!

Pretty sure I am getting sick.,..I have a sore throat and that's how my colds always start. I also think Gio might be starting his 6 week growth spurt a little early if that's possible.
He will be 6 weeks on Sunday. He ate last night at 7:30, 9, 11, & again at 3:30 am. That's way more than usual for him. Nothing came back up either so I know he didn't overeat.

Merry Christmas to me? Lol....
He did give me some nice smiles yesterday. For the first time I KNOW they weren't just gas smiles! :x

I'm excited about Christmas Eve and to start our family traditions. I cannot wait to see Ellie in her Christmas dress.

So much to do today!! I have some errands to run in the AM, I want to wrap some more presents so I don't have to do it when I get home tonight, and I have some slice and bake cookies I want to make. Fx that LO wakes me up in 3 or so hours so I can get started after hat feeding. Anyone ever pump and wrap?? Hoping I will be able to combine my power hour pump while wrapping.

Up pumping. Last night Addy and I went to see Santa who rides around n a fire truck at my moms house. I love it. I didn't know it was yesterday until last minute, so I flew around like a madwoman getting her in the car seat and there, and we just made it before Santa arrived. The firemen pass out treat bags and it's so cute. Of course she slept through the entire thing but I got a cute pic. It's on my camera so I'll have to post later.

LO actually slept from 12-2am which I attribute to him not feeling good, but I'm thankful for the sleep. FX no fever develops and his congestion doesn't get worse (DH is getting over pneumonia so I'm stressed about LO more than I would for a normal cold).

Excited it's Christmas Eve but also a little bummed as we usually attend a large family get together and I've decided to keep LO home since he's congested. Of course DH is still going to go and I really don't want him to miss it however, the selfish part of me is annoyed that LO and I are going to spend the majority of Christmas Eve alone (party is about an hour away so he'll leave late afternoon). We've just had one thing after another lately and I've been struggling with some PPD/PPA (I've been open with DH about it) so I'm just feeling sorry for myself I guess.

Thanks for the vent ladies. And as we say in my family...Christmas Eve Gift! No idea what it means but it's a tradition ha!

I'm kind of sad because DH is working today, the 25 and 26. It's good on one hand because it's extra money, but I'm going to miss him so much and all of our traditions are either being modified or not happening. I'm going to all of our Christmas events alone. And I also feel badly about feeling sad because he's the one who doesn't get a Christmas. I bought him extra presents and we're having our own little Christmas on the 27 to make up for it, but still...

@targetpopcornmomma‌ --I hear ya on the crazy attitude of the big sister. My 2 have been driving me batty the last few days. I feel awful about how impatient I've been with them. I'm hoping getting out of the house for several days while well visit family will be enough of a break for all of us...now if I could just fast forward the drive and just be to our destination....

So we took the girls to see Christmas lights last night (the local KOA decorates the entire campground with lights) and there was a Santa there that came up to the car. It's safe to say Avery is NOT a fan of Santa. She started screaming hysterically. Poor thing! It was kinda comical.

Marry Christmas Eve to all of you!! Hope everyone has a stress-less day as much as you possibly can. We will be in the car for a 4 hour drive today then again tomorrow for about 3 hours. Lord help me...frozen is already in the portable DVD player. Hopefully it will work it's magic!

Hit post on accident earlier- damn mobile typing & TB automatic save feature!

My rant: so my milk never fully came in despite all my hard efforts. Disappointed yes, but NBD in the grand scheme of things IMO. I stopped pumping about two weeks ago, guess who still leaks some milk & can express some? YEP. THIS GIRL.

WTAF BODY?!?!?! I figured I'd dry up pretty easy since I only ever got a max of 4oz of milk total in a 24hr period. So much for that thought.

Now I'm just waiting for my pp period to show up. I have BCP but I want to let my body straighten itself out before I introduce hormones.

Otherwise we are doing well & I find more love for baby John every day :x

Now I'm wide awake having so much guilt over the last 2 days with Addison. She's been such a handful and I'm not handling it well. I've been extremely mean, I've been yelling at her more than I ever have in my life. During her fits of rage she will try to get me to give in by saying she wants a hug and I've been saying no not until you calm down. Which only makes her more angry and makes her cry more. I'm crying over telling her no because all I want to is hold her and cuddle her but in my mind she needs to know that this behavior isn't okay. It's breaking my heart that I told her no to a hug but I know it's part of a game and part she is hurting and now I'm only making it worse. I don't want to lose this special bond I have wit her and my husband is telling me I need to just relax and be careful what I am. I just get so angry when she is so bad on purpose and laughing. I love this kid more than anything and now I feel I'm ruining her. So now I'm wide awake..I guess I'll finish wrapping gifts.

I feel the same way with DD who is 3. I feel awful and frustrated with her all of the time. She got on the phone with my Dad and told him she was acting like a wild child. I don't want her to think that's how I view her. I don't really have any advice except to say our DDs are looking for any type of attention be it good or bad and just try to hang in there because it will get better.

@targetpopcornmomma‌...I'm sorry, momma!! I know it's hard now but you're a great mom!! Addi won't remember the times you disciplined her when she grows up.. She'll just remember all the fun you have together. I know I'm a FTM but I speak from experience with my mom. We are super close like the two of you. Now, I'm grateful for the times she disciplined me and love telling stories of the fun we had when I was younger. Love you!!

My LO did the same thing loved his changing table so I started letting him play on the changing table and also changing him other places, after a couple of weeks of changing him everywhere and leaving him to play after a diaper change he is able to play by himself for long stretches of time!

DH made it home for the 1:30 feeding from his poker game and then at 2:45ish when she still wouldn't sleep he took her to so I could sleep. I tagged in at 6:30 to feed and take the next shift. She slept great on and off all day so of course night sleep sucks. Plus she's started the 6 week growth spurt so that's not helping.

Guess whose snoring in my arms but will freak out when I put her down. I'm hoping she stays awake today so we can get sleep tonight after putting together her big gift from Santa. However I'd take a melt down tonight around 9 pm so we can leave early from DHs extended family Christmas. GMIL is going to be there and she drives me bonkers now that DD is here.

Today is my 6week pp appt. I thought my appt was at 8:45am, but as I was feeding the cats at 7:50am, I saw on the calendar that it was really 8:15. Made it here only two minutes late whew!

@targetpopcornmomma‌...you'll be even closer when she grows up!! Well, except for the teenage years but after that you'll be the best of friends!! I can say that with 100% confidence because of your relationship now (just don't burn her cookies). Plus, you're a cool mom so she'll be all about hanging out with you. Haha

So, I ordered DH a personalized briefcase and pen from Ems. Lady told me it would be ready at 8 am when they opened. I arrive at 8:05 and the woman working said "You're not supposed to be here until 9 am!!". I explained that the woman told me that it would be ready at 8 am and she got really pissed and said "NO, 9 AM!!". So, here I sit with a two month old after dragging her out in the rain. I'm trying not to be a bitch until I get my stuff then I'm going to give her an earful. I know she is going to purposely make me wait until exactly 9 to give me the order because she told the girl to get me at exactly 9 am. You would think that she would do it quickly since I'm the only one waiting. Horrible customer service!!! Bishes!!

@targetpopcornmomma‌ I feel your pain about being overly impatient with birdcage sisters! I feel terrible over how I'm treating Gabby right now--always yelling at her and hardly ever interacting in a positive manner. I keep telling myself that she won't remember this time (she's only almost 3) and that I can't expect to be a perfect mom all the time. It is hard, because I'm her favorite person and she expects a lot of me that I just can't give right now. Add to my mommy guilt that I send her to daycare every day still instead of letting her stay home. *edited to clarify: I send her to daycare and STILL have no patience; I can't imagine what I'd do if she stayed home with me all day. SAHMs have my respect--your job is hard, and I couldn't do it!* Lots of ((hugs)).

Louie just ate (5:30 am here) and is now tooting like crazy and wide awake. I'm definitely not ready to be up for the day, so I'm hoping I can change him and get him back to sleep quickly before Gabby wakes up at 7. I am loving all of the smiles and talking that he's doing, though, while I have him propped up to poop.

Does anyone else have a go-to poop position? If I prop him up on my knees, he never fails to poop.

Ever. In a 3am sleep deprived state, I accidentally fed one of the girls her sister's formula. She's on hypoallergenic formula for milk protein intolerance, so getting her sister's "normal" formula was not good. She's already a fussy hot mess.

I feel like a total ass.

Greetings, all! I haven't been around too much over the last few days. We had a handful of hellish nights, and I'm sort of in a haze right now. Last night was our best night in a long time, and DS slept from 12:30-2:15 and from 3:00-5:00. I'll take it. I am so immensely jealous of those of you who are regularly getting more than 2 hours of consecutive sleep. I am so sleep-deprived, it's dangerous.

We are such grinches. We never decorated for Christmas, and we didn't buy gifts for DS or for each other. I'm 100% okay with it, and I'm looking forward to fully participating in a fun-filled Christmas next year.

Also, H only has three more days of work left! He is working today, tomorrow, and Friday, and he will be done and ready to be a SAHD.

Hugs to all those dealing with feeling sick, sucky sleeping babies (I'm with you), and holiday stress. Also happy Christmas Eve to all!

Today starts all of our holiday fun. Dinner tonight with my brother and his wife's family, Christmas present opening (so excited to see how happy ds1 will be), Christmas brunch and gifts with my family, then off to Indiana for Christmas with DH's family for the weekend. It will be hectic but I love the holidays and seeing everyone.

Also, I can't figure out if I'm having my first pp period or not. I'm 7.5 weeks pp and never fully stopped bleeding, but was down to brown spotting for more than a week. More red blood started yesterday along with light cramping. I guess we'll see- tough when you've had headaches and irritability for months

Does anyone else find their LO gets sweaty in those fleece sleepers? I usually put LO in one at bedtime and use a cotton swaddler, but he wakes up damp and it's not pee. We don't keep the house super warm or anything so it seems weird to me.

@NinerGirl52‌ LO loves the boob pillow too! It cracks me up when he pops off my nipple and settles back in for some boob sleep. Hilarious.

The other day, my mom said, "Only moms know what cries mean."

@AnnieRoo13‌ I have a naturally hot baby so I use a cotton long sleeve onesie or footed sleeper and only swaddle with an A&A blanket. But...I was going to say the fleece ones don't breathe at all so that's why they stay hot. Try a cotton one instead?

I think he must be naturally hot too (which is actually good because DH and I are as well). He gets too hot in the car sometimes when he has a hat on and it's not warm here (Ontario, Canada). I'll have to stop putting him in fleece sleepers at bedtime and just do cotton with a cotton swaddler. I still haven't mastered swaddling with a blanket! ...okay I haven't tried.

@AeandJb‌ I never figured out the different cries for Gabby, and I don't expect to for Louie either. I base my response on timing rather than sound.

@AnnieRoo13‌ I am with you on the working DH. He works 12 hour swing shifts. He is on night shift tonight and tomorrow night. Because I am still attending family functions, I won't even get to see him on Christmas Day. It makes me so sad that he won't be with us for LO's first Christmas.....but I know it's best for us financially.

He is off on the 26th though, so once he wakes up, his family is coming to our house to exchange gifts. To us, the 26th will be our Christmas!!


Also, the fleece sleepers....Gio gets hot in them too. He is most comfortable in the cotton ones. This time of year, it seems most stores only carry the fleece ones. ....or mostly fleece ones.

@AnnieRoo13‌ - DS sometimes gets sweat in cotton sleepers and an A&A swaddle blanket... I haven't ever put him in fleece because of this. I think some babies are just warmer than others. Sad because all the cute winter sleepers are fleece...

Omg! My DD sweats with just a short sleeved onesie and A&A swaddle blanket. When he wakes up at night I have to change his onesie. He also tends to pee out of his diaper argh.

Merry Christmas Eve! Hugs to ladies dealing with sleep deprivation, colds and tantrums. I am so excited to start our Christmas Eve traditions with Isaac. We bought a few Christmas stories and classic cartoons. Also we watch Elf every year. I have a mini ham for dinner but can't figure out what to make. DH and I always have our mini Christmas on Christmas Eve. Then we do the family stuff tomorrow.

Random question: what do you guys do for tummy time? Does your LO hate it? DS screams at the ground angrily lol

@songbirdsinging55‌...We started tummy time with DD when she was a day old in the hospital. She loves it now. She will occasionally cry though and if she does I give her a paci and lay right beside her. The paci helps distract her and my being there comforts her. You can also try laying on your back and putting him on your chest until he gets used to it. He'll grow to love it.

Merry Christmas Eve!!!!! H is coming home tomorrow for 3 days!!!!! He is gonna be so surprised with LO and how big he has gotten. I can't wait for him to snuggle with LO!!!!

I thought my entire family was gonna be here today and I was hoping someone would take LO and let me shower and shave my legs (wearing a dress to our party tonight) but the house is empty!!!

@songbirdsinging55‌ We pat his butt during tummy time. He likes his butt patted in general though. It usually calms him down.
