My best Friend is having some troubles with her husband and I'm really worried about her...

I'm up and at 'em on my day off. I'm taking DS to daycare, then I'm driving across the city to get my niece a gift from American girl.

Daycare starts the transition to sippy cups this week. We'll see how that goes.
Oh and yes! DS has been so moody lately. I think he's teething but who knows. I don't see anything but his gums do look swollen. I am not looking forward to the tantrums as he gets older.

Morning! I've got a lot to accomplish at work since I'm only in 2 days this week so I'm going to TRY and be good and not just Bump all day (merp, sorry!).

This weekend was SO. BUSY. Phia and I went shopping Saturday morning. Saturday night, I hosted our mommy group cookie swap which was a ROARING success! Sunday we had church, DH's company Christmas party for the kids, and then a birthday dinner for a friend all the way down by the busiest freakin' mall in the area (and our dinner was awful).

I'm a terrible aunt and forgot to get my nephew a birthday gift (his birthday is on Christmas Eve) so I have to run out and get him an Xbox Live gift card on lunch, and return a sweater I got a JCrew which was much cuter on the hanger than on me.

I have to order pizzas to send to daycare for lunch (that's my "all center" gift). I'm still waiting on some decorated sugar cookies a friend made for me for the 3 daycare teachers to put in their baskets. If they're not here by tonight, I'm gunna have to proceed without them and that annoys me because I paid for these cookies and if they show up after Christmas I'm gunna have a dozen Christmas sugar cookies.

I think that's it?

Oh AND, I just watched Love Actually for the first time last night. It was good. Not worth the "ZOMMMG you haven't seen that movie?!?!" I've gotten since it came out but...good feel-good flick.

Morning ladies.

My kid was awake for 2 ish hours last night. DH brought her to bed with us at 10:15, I think she slept for an hr, then started playing. After her trying to climb over me to get out of bed, being slapped and then head butted, I got up with her at 12:10. I spent an hr rocking her, changing diapers, giving her a bottle and finally felt like she might sleep at 1:15. All this and I could hear DH snoring in bed. When I climbed back in bed with her, he started tossing and turning, resulting in her waking up. She finally went down around 2 probably and I got up at 5:15. I'm tired. And crabby.

Today is my work Christmas lunch. Then I have to take Evie in for her flu booster shot. I figure that's punishment for last night.

I stopped at Starbucks on the way to work this morning.

Wanting a shower, BAD. Water heater died yesterday. B and I were able to steal the last bit of hot water yesterday morning.

On the plus side, I am working from home. Well, working may be an exaggeration. I'm actually searching the internet for a good hotel in Vermont for a last minute getaway for New Years!

And Holy crap, it's Christmas week!!!

Question for food quality experts: I bought a turkey at Costco on Thursday/Friday (?). It wasn't frozen, it was thawed (soft to the touch). The tag says "sell by 12/26/14." Since it was already thawed, and since that's the date, is it safe to assume that it's been ok chilling in my fridge, wrapped up since I bought it? Everything I'm reading online says "you can keep your thawed turkey in the fridge for 1-2 days before cooking" but I think they mean if you're bringing the turkey down from frozen. But it was already thawed...and you would think Costco is keeping these chilled until they sell so...I'm good right? I'm cooking it Christmas Day. Am I overthinking this?

@keight38 Good luck tomorrow. Is your DH able to go with you? The Allergist visit was a tough one, I was so glad my sister was there to help me that day. If someone can attend the visit with you it would be nice.

@sunshin41‌ A is on Silk. He did not react to the almonds in the testing but since we've seen a reaction at home she still advised us to avoid that and the other things we've seen cause a problem even though they didn't do those (citrus, raspberries, kiwi, strawberry). A is still getting hives pretty often. His eczema and diaper rash have improved a lot since moving to Silk, and his stools are not as loose. The mystery hives, I just don't know what to make of them or where they would even start with testing since they did the 24 most common allergens and he reacted to none. They don't plan to test the other things he reacted to at this time, and since we've been avoiding them clearly the hives are from something else.

@kellykinns No bedtime bottle? Yay!! We aren't that brave. I'll tackle that in mid-January, I think.

@cagoldi unfortunately I am on my own for the visit. DH just started a new job so he can't get off. I'm dreading it but it is what it is!

Nothing to dread. It's hard watching them get so many pokes but since your specific concern is peanuts maybe they will limit the scope? It will be okay, it was easier having help but not at all impossible to manage if you are alone. Good luck!

I mentioned earlier that I'm working from home today.  Now my work PC has been taken due to potential malware.   I don't know what I did!  I booked my weekend hotel room, googled a few things, but that's all.  I'm freaking out.  Ugh.  Now I have a few hours to sit here and worry.

So...

I went to drop off lunch at DC and ran a few other errands. As I was leaving our neighborhood, there was a suspicious looking woman wearing a black leather jacket, pink fleece PJ pants and black boots standing on the corner/kinda in the middle of the road of one of the side roads in our neighborhood. I arrived back from my errands an hour and 15 minutes later and the same woman was in the same vicinity of where she was, but a few houses down, and again kind of in the middle of the road. She just looked dazed and out of it...but this is unusual behavior. Should I call the cops?

A doesn't drink much milk (soy) from a sippy. Water or tea all day long though. Not a concern for me since I don't care how much nutrition he gets from milk as he adjusted his solids intake when we dropped daytime bottles. As long as he gets plenty of fluids, doesn't matter what they are.

I do have to focus on making sure he gets plenty of calcium from non-dairy sources but that's a separate issue, and his Silk has a lot.

@j0509 They shouldn't get more than 20 oz of milk a day, but they don 't really need it at all if they have a diet rich enough in fat, calories, calcium, Vitamin D, etc. I'm not saying to disregard your pedi, but maybe if you're inclined keep a food journal for a few days before your next visit, show the doctor what he eats on any given day, then see what she says.

It's been about a half hour since I got home but I'm tempted to hop in my car and just circle the block to see if she's still out there and if so, I'll call the non-emergency line. It just seems very strange and I hope she's ok but yes, I don't want to approach her alone.

@LJGS1010 I don't think you're being stupid at all! That gift was very special to you. And why on earth would you even let a toddler play with a canvas painting as a toy anyway, mom and dad? "He's got so many other ACTUAL toys," am I right? That would be my reply.

Ok I circled the block...she's gone. I hope that means she went back home, or the police caught up with her and took her to safety. Either way...it makes me sad to see people in that kind of state in public only because I'm scared for them and wonder if they even know where they are, what they're doing, etc. Dangerous stuff. Also, I forget that down the block there's an assisted living home; maybe she was one of the residents and got lost? *shrugs*

He mimics a lot of words that he doesn't understand still. Like I am sure he doesn't know what he said when he did shit or punk rock. At this age their receptive vocabulary is waaaaay more important, and I'm sure Doug is doing really well with that. Also, I notice A seems to regress a little then a few new words will come out of nowhere pretty quickly. That could be what's happening with D. We went a few weeks where he hardly said mama at all.

I've mentioned that SIL is not a planner and therefore she did little to no reading/research before bringing a helpless infant into the world. She told MIL that she knows "they say no blankets, but it's just so soft and she (the baby) loves it"
