I really dislike how rude people are on this site. I asked a question once and it was not well received either. Some of us are first time moms and yes, kind of neurotic. We are trying to cope and make sure all is well with our babies. Attacking each other and just being mean is not cool. I'm done with this site.
@earth2teacher, I just went back and reread your original post. Though there was no hair petting going on, the advice given was good and no one attacked you.
Lol... I have to admit I love when new people ask the dreaded weight question. Everyone loses their shit. It's time for me to grab the popcorn and read the comments. Keep them coming.

I hate when people use "I'm a first time Mom" line. Like with that come lack of common sense, pregnancy books and Dr Google. Do you think we also are not worried or concern for our babies, whether we are 2nd, 3rd or 4th time Mom's ? Some of us have suffered multiple miscarriages, the heighten concern, worry and willing a sticky baby is still there for all of us no matter what pregnancy we are currently going through. Drop the FTM excuses. It's getting real old.
Farting leaking etc doesn't cause body issues?? I'm sorry but for me that stuff makes me more self conscious than the weight gain, the point is everyone is different and this should be a non judgmental place for all.
I would really like to know why asking how much weight someone has gained is any different than asking if farting / leaking is an issue, why is one more offensive... I'm being real and sincere.. For me personally the weight hasn't effected my self esteem as much as some of the other issues I'm dealing with so I find it unsupportive to be told anything should be off limits, I respect everyone's opinion but talking down to someone you never met seems unnecessary
I have pretty much stayed out of this and I really want this thread to die but I really just can't understand how people cannot see that there is a difference. There are people here who have struggled/still struggle with eating disorders. Over eating. Under eating. Whatever. Women, by nature, compare. We compare ourselves as women, wives and moms. To look at a post full of other women posting about how little or how much they have gained is not helpful. It is not helpful because everyone is different and everyone will gain what they gain. There are avid runners who eat healthy their entire pregnancy and gain 70lbs. Or someone who eats all the things and never exercises and gains 2lbs. Do you not see how that could make someone else feel bad about their weight gain? I can tell you how much I've gained and you can think, wow, why have I gained so much more than her. You have no idea my starting weight. You don't know if I struggled with morning sickness. You just don't know. You can not compare.
Weight gain is not a bodily function. Gas is a bodily function. Everyone farts. There are no farting disorders I am aware of. Women don't size them selves by how much of a fluid they are leaking. A women is not going to potentially skip a meal because she has dark areolas now.
Weight does not just affect (effect? I'll Google this some time) our self consciousness. It has plays a huge roll in many women's lives. I can be self conscious about leaking but I can wear a breast pad. I can't just put a pad on my weight gain.
There are women struggling trying to gain weight this pregnancy. There are others concerned about too much weight gain already. And there are some that fall in between.
This issue is between you and your ob/mw. That's it. You want to ask advice on options for more calorie dense foods to help with gaining? Sure. Don't be smug about your lack of weight gain. You want to ask for healthy meal options? We have a meal plan thread. Want to ask about some pregnancy friendly exercises? There is a weekly thread for that as well.
We do not need to assign and number to our pregnancy. That is not something we can compare apples to apples. Every body, women and pregnancy is different. I assume that most of the women who don't understand how there is a difference or why these posts are hated have never really struggled with a weight issue. A severe negative Body image. Maybe you have and you have have been able to overcome that struggle. But I for one do not want to be the cause of another woman having any harder a time with her weight than she already is.
You want to know what I've gained? I will gladly tell you through a pm.
I promise I'm done and I apologize for not letting this thread die. I just can't with the ignorance. I am not calling anyone stupid just not informed. So consider yourself informed.
