newborn...how do you get through the tiredness

My baby girl is 6 days old and so far nursing seems to be going well. I also have a three year old. And I am so exhausted it hurts. I had a c section so literally havent slept lying down in a week because im still sore and I know theres no lightat the end of the tunnel. How did you get through it?

  • Agree with PP, you just do.  (Congrats, btw!)  I was really lucky to have a lot of help in the beginning and I only have one to take care of.  After my C/S, I actually felt pretty good, considering, but even light housework would cause excessive bleeding.  So, when my parents were over, I would take that time to sleep.  The house and everything else can wait.  While my H wasn't sure how he could help me with our baby initially, he really stepped it up with other responsibilities.  Just remember, it's okay to feel exhausted, it will eventually get easier and it's all about survival those first few months.  Hang in there!

  • Don't do anything other than nurse, hold the baby and watch TV and relax. Easier said then done, but get someone to take care of the toddler and just heal.

Also if it's warm, even just stepping outside for a few min (no rigorous activity) can do wonders.
