Christmas gift ideas for 5 yo boy?

My son just had his bday and I got him several lego sets.  I am at a loss for something super exciting after tons of bday gifts.  He had two parties one with me and one with his dad...

5 year old boys are hard to shop for because so many things seem geared toward younger or older.   I agree that there isn't much "exciting stuff!"  We went with one large Lego set (will be exciting once he gets it together!), lots of books and some video game things he had been wanting.  DS loves superheros (ironman, Captain America, ect) so we added an action figure in there as well. 

Any games that he would like?  We put Simon, Monopoly Junior and Trouble on his list for others.

What about a trip to an aquarium, museum, or some other kind of experience?  True, it wouldn't provide much "bang" on Christmas morning, but it might be a better gift than another lego set.

Also, what about art supplies or a science kit?

My son just turned 6, his favorites (besides the obvious Legos) - K'Nex (Classic), Hex Bugs, Lincoln Logs, Tinker Toys.

A bike or a scooter.  Sports equipment; we got our son a multi use net so he can practice throwing, batting for baseball, kicking for soccer, throwing for football, etc.  

2-Step

My five year old is getting a snowboard, hockey sticks and goal, sequence junior, Skylanders for Xbox and a tire swing to share with his brother. He loves his razor scooter, skate board, big wheel, puzzles and hot wheels tracks. We got him a half size soccer goal for his birthday and he loves that too and it's big enough for us all to play. Mine will be 5 in 2 weeks. He is getting sky landers trap force and new "military toys." He loves playing "military" with his brother. Toys R Us has a great Lin called heroes.
