I am REALLY trying to fight off the desire to go get a dozen assorted from Dunkin and eat them all by myself. Damn you AF. ::shakes fist::
Where are my cycle sisters? Some moral support please.
:-h I just had to decide between a salted caramel mocha or a small frosty and fries. The mocha won because caffeine, but the struggle was real.

@gutsymama I have to clap and cheer (literally - clapping, saying "yay!" and asking for a high five) after every bite of proper food my kid eats to get her to eat more... it works though! Would Luke be encouraged by that? The gherkin also will only eat tomato sauce for a vegetable and raspberries for fruit aside from in pouch form. It's frustrating but it sounds like progress has been made - that's awesome >:D<
@PickleX I have found for him it's important to not get distracted. I think a lot of his is that he's been getting so many calories from TPN and Pediasure (those two combined have totaled roughly 130% of the calories he needs before we made recent cuts) so he doesn't really need to eat other things and is mostly just too busy. Our most successful meals usually consist of me putting bites in his mouth with one hand while he sits on my lap and I read him a book with the other hand - he's stationary and occupied. We are definitely making sure he knows we are happy about him eating though!

This kid may not have a lot of bowel, but he has plenty of guts! DS born at 34 weeks with (surprise!) gastroschisis turned short bowel syndrome. 131 days in the NICU, 7 trips to the OR, G-button, daily TPN....
We are impatiently awaiting the day we can say goodbye to his girlfriend Ivy for good.

Ummm...you have AF? Did I have it the same time as you last month? Lol I remember I shared it with a few ladies...and I thought maybe you. .but she's not here yet. :-SS
I just added a sushi post with links that I used to the recipe thread, in case anyone is interested.

brother dear, who, as a PhD student, is not really among the most financially well-off in our family, suggested to buy our dad a smartphone and a fancy-pants camera with it for Christmas.
as our dad insists on buying shit for everyone else and never wants or gets anything for himself, this is, in principle, not a bad idea.
however, parents are not in the US and will not be joining us for christmas this year. when I said that German customs would flay us alive with their 17% import toll, he said we could just add a false invoice saying that the camera+smartphone were less than the max toll-free amount.
which is 50$.
Anyone else think this is a wonderful* idea?

@casey78 oh no! I hope the x-rays are over soon and that is not pneumonia poor Leah!
@redrocksmama yes me! I did as @missymr I gave generic cards and included a pic of LO on each envelope... I made it fun including something related to each person, if possible LO with the addressed person or family
@maryannespier the cinderella pic is the best meme I've seen in a while!
@amparo1981 not a good idea, however if you throw away the packaging you have own possessions right? (is my Mexican side telling you to break customs law? maybe....)

Member of the picky eater faction here too. If they could get all food groups into cheese puff or cracker form she would be set for lyfe. Oh...and the Gerber cereal bars. Else pouches are the norm.
We cheer when she attempts to put anything near her mouth...with a bowl and without...with utensils and without...offer mine and sit close enough for her to steal it...nada. I would probably have better luck getting her to eat new things if I left it in a pile of dog hair on the floor somewhere.
weird, as soon as I entered the room he went back to sleep like in 2 seconds...
anyhow... @ashie624 AF is arriving tomorrow or the day after, my ring goes out so... that's the reason why I'm not sleeping right now, I'm kind of waiting for DH because the next 2 weeks is AF + sleeping at our MILs where it gets difficult because we share bed with LO...
:-q
@ramy3 totally unrelated but I'm going to Ireland next month! my next project is there so most probably I'll be going there quite often

I didn't mention that Haddock was asleep on the floor, but he is. Maybe he should nap on the floor more often? Where was this nap when I needed it yesterday?
Does anyone else call a food by a different name to get their kid to eat it? DD will eat puffs like crazy but hates cereal or cheerios. I say "hey, wants some puffs?" and dump any kind of cereal type substance on her tray and she loves it. All meat = chicken and all granola cereal bar type things= cookies. Am I setting myself up for disaster later on? Is this a stupid thing to do?
My aunt used to tell my cousin he was eating chicken sticks. They were fish.
For my husband's 30th, we went to one of his favorite restaurants-- a Cajun/Creole place (Acadiana). I treated his best friend and his wife, my sister and his brother. I told my BIL and my sister to order whatever they wanted... neither are big seafood fans so I wanted to make sure they would feel free to order beef or whatever and not feel bad about price.
Well we got this lovely amuse bouche of turtle soup with sherry between courses. We lied to my BIL that it was actually chicken to get him to taste it. He loved it and thanked us for lying to him after we told him the truth. He was 27 at the time

That was strange to say at 3:30.
Only through page one... It may take me the rest of the day to get through it all!

Nikita calls all forms of beef meat. Pork and chicken are chicken. Fish sticks were also chicken for a while. It works...most of the time.
