3rd Trimester

Registering for completion discount?

Does Target still have a registry completion discount? I am thinking of registering just to get the discount. Is that nuts? Or unethical? This is our fourth baby, but we need:
--a new car seat (ours expired)
--baby toiletries
--diapers (always)
--new bottle nipples
--new pacis
--changing pad cover
--baby book, although I don't think they have them
--waterproof pads
--maybe some new sleepers
--nightlight
not sure what else.
Can I do this? Has anyone done this without a shower?

Re: Registering for completion discount?

  • I had showers but I didn't tell anyone I was registered there. I registered just for things we'd need to buy afterwards and I wanted the completion coupon. Go for it!

  • I would go for it. They are things you need and you aren't asking others to buy them for you. Get the discount.
  • This content has been removed.
  • I have a registry for my third. It is a great way to keep organized and get the coupon. The only person I've shared my Registry with so far is my mom.
  • How is it unethical? There are no rules that only FTM can register. Or you must have a shower. I registered at Target, PBK and amazon just for the discount. I didn't share with anyone but my sister asked if I registered so she could buy something for DD2.

  • I wish I'd thought of this sooner!

  • Also consider creating an Amazon registry.  You get a 10% completion discount (15% if you are a Prime member) on all items that are stocked by Amazon.  I went this route so I could add all sorts of baby and non-baby related items - nursing bras, BF supplies, even the DSLR camera I have been eyeing.  It's hard to beat the selection from Amazon and having things shipped to your door for free is pretty convenient.

To answer your question, I think there is absolutely nothing wrong with creating a registry that you don't intend to share publicly in order to keep track of your shopping list and get the completion discount.
  • NicoleWI we already have everything...but I am going on right now to register for piddly stuff just for the coupons. I didn't even know about the coupons until this post. So thanks!
and I noticed in the welcome email that if I go up to the service desk I can get a welcome bag with more coupons and a free bottle. So it is defintely worth it.

  • I did get the welcome bag and it was surprisingly nice! I registered at Target but am wondering when I will get my coupon, since I'm already 36.5 weeks. I put my due date a week earlier than it actually is, so I am hoping they mail my coupon right away.

Totally wish I'd thought of this with babies #2 and #3!! Even just for the PBK bedding I got for one of them. Amazon is an awesome idea, too. I order TONS of stuff on Amazon all the time.
